An audio recording of an exchange between a teacher and a student at North Rowan High School in North Carolina serves as a reminder that the school system is becoming a training ground for teaching kids to be subservient to the state while indoctrinating them into thinking that the First Amendment doesn’t exist.




A nutcase teracher who doesn't know jack shit about the laws and is pushing her political beleif on kids.

The clip features a conversation in which teacher Tanya Dixon-Neely tells students that it is a criminal offense to criticize Barack Obama and that they could be “arrested” for doing so.

The discussion centers around a story about Mitt Romney bullying a kid five decades ago. A student responds by pointing out that Obama admits in his own book, Dreams from My Father, that he also bullied a girl when he was in school, and that both Obama and Romney are “just men.”

Dixon-Neely then begins yelling about how “disrespecting the President” is an arrestable offense.

“Let me tell you something, you will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom,” she says, adding, “Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush? Do you realize you are not supposed to slander the president?”

The student correctly dispels Dixon-Neely’s nonsense by pointing out that the First Amendment permits the most vigorous criticism of the President.

“You would have to say some pretty f’d up crap about him to be arrested,” says the student. “They cannot take away your right to have your opinion … They can’t take that away unless you threaten the president.”

When the student refuses to be intimidated into agreeing with the teacher, Dixon-Neely states, “OK, do I have to get my cane?”

“As a social studies teacher, I cannot allow you to slander any President,” she adds.

According to Breitbart News, “The student had asked his friend to record the discussion to “prove to his parents what he has been trying to tell them for some time. The teacher in this video has a long history of pushing a liberal agenda, by shouting down students. She is very intolerant of other points of view that she does not share. The atmosphere at this school is not very conducive to opposing views.”

The school reacted to the controversy by claiming it represented “a learning experience,” and failed to indicate whether it would take any action against Dixon-Neely for her blatantly misleading and downright dangerous teaching.

As we have previously documented, there are numerous examples where children are being made to chant songs worshipping Obama in schools, perform military-style parades in his honor, or watch propaganda videos about celebrities affirming their allegiance to him.

In September 2009, the White House announced it would stream an Obama speech directly into government schools. The speech was accompanied by lesson plans issued by the Department of Education which instructed teachers to ask children “Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials.”

This was merely a continuation of the cult of personality that has been built up around Obama with the aid of the education system.

This week, Obama’s campaign launched “The Life of Julia”, a cartoon interactive website and self-described lesson in how President Obama’s federal government programs continually rescue one woman over her lifetime, and conversely, how (the not-yet-nominated GOP candidate) Mitt Romney’s policies would negatively affect her life.

One can only wonder what dimension of reality Obama’s latest condescending propaganda effort is referring to, where an aging ‘Julia’ is basking in a life of government entitlement programs and a life of privilege.

Thanks to Obama, at age 3, Julia is enrolled in a government (ahem, taxpayer) funded Head Start program which will help her prepare for kindergarten. In a matter of seconds, this presentation has now covertly limited its audience to those below the poverty line. For those who don’t know, ‘Head Start’ was initially created as an eight week summer camp program in 1965 as part of Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty”. Head Start today touts itself as a multi-year curriculum that can begin as early as birth continuing to age six for families whose income is determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. In reality, Head Start is merely an introduction – the first step in a life of social entitlement in America.

On the HHS Head Start website, a PDF titled “Recommendations for a Head Start Program” describes types of children enrolled into Head Start:

“Many of these children have been totally neglected in terms of health evaluations and services since infancy. The listing below indicates highly desirable evaluation elements, but inclusion of particular elements should generally be at the option of the community. The Office of Economic Opportunity should request some common types of data as a result of evaluations for the purpose of assessing general problems among the poor.”

While many will debate about the inherent value of providing early education programs to any child regardless of income or socio-economic status, to this day there has been only one scientific study analyzing Head Start’s long-term results. The study was released by the U.S. Department of Health and Humans Services in 2010. Based on the results found in the study, The Heritage Foundation’s, David Muhlhausen Ph.D. and Dan Lips, reported that

“Head Start has had little to no effect on cognitive, socio-emotional, health, and parenting outcomes of participating children…..Given this strongly negative evaluation, Congress should reconsider spending more than $9 billion per year on a program that produces few positive lasting effects. Furthermore, instead of creating yet another new federal preschool program at a cost of $8 billion, Congress and the Obama Administration should focus on terminating, consolidating, and reforming existing preschool and child care programs to better serve children’s needs and to improve efficiency for taxpayers.”

Perhaps Obama’s advisers should have read the HHS report before exaggerating the successes of another failed education program.

No slide is presented from age 4 to age 16 but we can assume that at some point Julia was given the CDC government recommended – or more likely a free government HPV vaccination given at her junior high school sometime between the age of 9 and 12 – without the knowledge or consent of her parents.

In this brave new world, Julia must also still ask her parents for permission to go on a school field trip, but once she is twelve, she now has the legal right to decide on her own, again – without the knowledge or consent of her parents, and to procure her birth control products in school and also to seek treatment of STD’s in her new sexually active liberal life.

At age 18 (Obama still sitting in as President), Julia can now prepare for her first semester of college. The presentation boasts of the $10,000 tax credit over four years that Julia’s family can claim from the “American Opportunity Tax Credit” but the slide fails to mention that she must choose between taking the education tax credit or taking the deduction for tuition and fees (likely a significantly higher deduction than claiming the tax credit) as a tax deduction but not both.

Fast forward several years later into Julia’s life, she’s now 25 (Obama still in charge) and somehow still under the President’s administration, she’s had surgery and has miraculously paid off all of her student loans. She’s even landed a job as a web designer before graduation. What the slide show fails to report is that the National Student Loan Default Rate has doubled since 2003 and at 8.8%, is at its highest in over 20 years – and those numbers are expected to rise. The likelihood that this young woman can afford to pay off her loans is remote at best. As is her ability to secure full-time employment during college while carrying a full course load. But these realities matter very little in Obama’s brave new socialist world.

According to Andrew Sum, Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University, nearly half of all recent college graduates are either under-employed or unemployed – with both numbers steadily increasing. Data compiled by Sum between September 2010 and January 2011 reflects approximately 1.94 million recent graduates as under-employed. In 2000, 75% of college graduates held a job that required a college degree, compared with 60% in 2011. This number has increased significantly in the past decade.

Unfortunately, under employment is not captured by the unemployment rate, which is why the number of jobless increases on a weekly basis, but the reported unemployment rate from the Bureau of Labor Statistics magically keeps decreasing. Fortunately for Julia and her fairytale life, these real life facts do not enter into the picture.

At age 42 (Obama is seemingly still in office), Julia obtains a SBA loan and starts a small business. At 65, she enrolls in Medicare and at 67 she retires and receives a monthly benefit that allows her to live comfortably without tapping into her savings. She also volunteers in the community garden as all private gardens have been banned. But it gets even better…

Other than the reference to Julia’s family being able to claim a tax credit for her education, there is no other mention of a family structure in her government-designed life. There is no father figure when she is a child, no college sweetheart and no marriage, even though she is seen putting her child on the school bus at age 37. The Obama campaign is clearly blotting out the “traditional” family structure in place of single parent households ever more reliant on government handouts.

Could this be the template for the government’s new social engineering program?

It shows Julia at age 68, when she realizes that all of her social security checks have bounced, Medicare is bankrupt, her life savings is gone through inflation and she has to move in with her son.

A Pennsylvania eighth-grade student and her mother won a battle after challenging school officials’ position that students must stand during the Pledge of Allegiance or else be punished for “disorderly conduct.”

Carolyn Raja sued the Brownsville Area School District on behalf of her 13-year-old daughter (known in court documents as “N.B.), who was admonished by her teacher, Jessica VanMeter, after she refused to get out of her classroom seat during the Pledge of Allegiance. The school’s principal, Vincent Nesser, backed the disciplinary actions of the teacher, telling Raja that he expected all students to recite the pledge.

The school does not have a written rule or policy requiring students to participate in the daily pledge.

On the morning of May 1, the ACLU sued the school district on behalf of the Rajas and by the afternoon the district had backed down. District solicitor James Davis acknowledged that N.B. had a “constitutionally protected right” not to stand.

In 1943 the U.S. Supreme Court, in the case of West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, affirmed the right First Amendment right of students to refuse to recite the Pledge of Allegiance or to salute the American flag.

Software has ability to monitor, censor web activity even in students’ homes

Students in Portland, Maine are to be issued laptops that will track their activity and actively block certain websites including social media sites.

Internet filtering software will be downloaded automatically onto the computers when students boot them up at school, reports the Kennebec Journal. However, the restraints will stay in place even when the students are working from home or other non-school premises, including outside of normal school hours.

Sites such as Facebook, Hulu, and YouTube, as well as forums, news groups, games, dating sites, gambling sites, and chat rooms will all be blocked.

According to Peter Eglinton, chief operating officer for the district, the changes are a legal requirement. However, this is not the case, as noted by Doug Levin, executive director of the State Educational Technology Directors Association, based in Maryland:

“While federal law requires school districts to take measures like creating an Internet safety policy and blocking sexually explicit content, there is no requirement that social media sites be blocked,” Levin said.

Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Education recently issued guidelines explaining that it is acceptable to allow social networking sites and video streaming, said Deborah Caldwell-Stone, deputy director of the American Library Association’s Office of Intellectual Freedom.

The article also notes that no other school district in the country has blocked access to social media sites from school computers that are used at home.

The privacy concerns raised by the move will also draw comparisons with a previous incident reported in 2010 when a school district in Philadelphia was reportedly discovered to have used school issued laptops to actively spy on students in their homes.

School district officials in Lower Merion were accused of remotely accessing laptops and taking thousands of images via the in built cameras, including photographs of students in their homes, screen shots of web sites they visited, and excerpts of their online chats.

It seems other schools across the country have been actively using the same or similar technology to monitor students for some time.

No jab, no education: New CA law requires middle schoolers to provide proof of Tdap vaccination in order to receive education

A new amendment to California’s Health and Safety Code as it relates to vaccinations will take effect this fall for the 2012-2013 school year, and will require all incoming seventh graders, as well as eighth and twelfth graders for the first year, to get a Tdap booster vaccination for pertussis (whooping cough) before being admitted to school. The website of the Marin County School District, which includes the city of San Francisco, literally states “No shot, No School!” in an apparent attempt to strong-arm parents into complying with the new provision.

Even though students in California can be exempted from any and all vaccinations for medical or personal reasons, most parents are largely unaware of this fact. And because of the 2010 whooping cough outbreak in California, many parents will likely just comply with the new Tdap requirement simply out of fear that their child could be the next victim of the disease, even though the Tdap vaccine itself has been shown to be ineffective at protecting against whooping cough (http://www.naturalnews.com).

Unless parents specifically request a Personal Belief Exemption Form (PBEF) from their local health department’s Immunization Program, their school-age children are required to get whatever vaccinations the State Department of Public Health decides is necessary from year to year. And those wishing to opt out of the new Tdap requirement will need to specifically request a CDPH 8261 form from the school (http://vaclib.org/exempt/states/ca/FAQ-CDPH8261.htm).

The interesting thing about DTaP, Tdap, and other pertussis vaccines is that they have never been tested for long-term safety, and they have never been proven to work. In fact, as we reported previously, the majority of the children who developed whooping cough during the 2010 scare had already been vaccinated against the disease. It was also revealed openly that pertussis vaccinations do not provide “lasting protection” against the disease.

Every California parent has a right to know the truth about Tdap and DTaP, not to mention the many other vaccines they are told their children are required to receive upon entering school for their own safety. They also have a right to know that they can exempt their children from such vaccines for medical or personal reasons. Sadly, most of them know neither, which is why it is crucially important to spread this information far and wide.

A New Jersey dad who suspected something was “horrifyingly wrong” at school when his autistic son began acting violently had the boy wear a digital recorder and discovered teachers verbally abusing him.

Stuart Chaifetz, 44, described his 10-year-old son Akian as a “sweet and gentle child” with a penchant for acrobatics and a deep bond with his three dogs.

So Chaifetz said it was totally out of character when he began receiving reports from Horace Mann Elementary School that Akian was hitting his teacher and a teacher’s aide.

“I never signed up for him to be tortured, terrorized and abused,” Cheryl McCollins told a jury on Tuesday. “I had no idea, no idea, that they tortured the children in the school.”

In February, we reported Ms. McCollins’ plight and her calling for the public viewing of startling footage of her then 18 year-old son, Andre, receiving 31 electroshocks at Judge Rotenburg Center for the disabled (JRC) for not removing his jacket.

In 2002, Andre, now 27, had been zapped, restrained, sprawled out face down with a helmet, and shocked another 30 times anytime he flinched or screamed out in pain. The aversive shock “treatment” continued all day with no food, water, or bathroom breaks.

When Cheryl visited her son, he was unresponsive and later rushed to the hospital where he was diagnosed with acute stress response.

McCollins is suing Canton, MA-based JRC and calling the treatment torture. Cheryl wanted the public to see this “therapy” as an unacceptable act of torture.

Of course, JRC fought vigorously to block the video release. A new Superior Court Judge on the case, Judge Barbara Dortch-Okara, refused JRC’s repeated request allowing public-court viewing for the first time.

Cheryl also testified that the staff members were laughing as Andre was shocked.

JRC said Fox’s coverage of the footage would make it impossible for JRC to receive a fair trial. You will soon see why.

Andre's mother is imploring that the video be allowed for public view so that people can see that this particular incident, and other electroshock treatments, are an act of torture. Rotenburg sought a court order to keep the video hidden during investigation. Last year, they were caught erasing crucial video evidence during another investigation. They are also responsible for the deaths of five children and numerous lawsuits.

In some cases, children are told during these “exercises” that a particular group of Americans is attacking the school.

For example, during a terror drill at a public school in Muskegon County, Michigan, students and teachers were told that “homeschoolers” were the ones attacking them….

“The exercise will simulate an attack by a fictitious radical group called Wackos Against Schools and Education who believe everyone should be homeschooled. Under the scenario, a bomb is placed on the bus and is detonated while the bus is traveling on Durham, causing the bus to land on its side and fill with smoke.”

In another case in New Jersey, students were told that the gunmen were from a group of “fundamentalist Christians” called “The New Crusaders”….

“Investigators described them as members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the ‘New Crusaders’ who don’t believe in separation of church and state. The mock gunmen went to the school seeking justice because the daughter of one had been expelled for praying before class.”

What possible purpose do drills like those have?

All over the United States, school children are being taken out of their classrooms, put on buses and sent to “alternate locations” during terror drills. These exercises are often called “evacuation drills” or “relocation drills” and they are more than a little disturbing. Sometimes parents are notified in advance where the kids are being taken and sometimes they are only told that the children are being taken to an “undisclosed location”.

In the years since 9/11 and the Columbine school shootings, there has been a concerted effort to make school emergency drills much more “realistic” and much more intense. Unfortunately, the fact that many of these drills are deeply traumatizing many children does not seem to bother too many people. Do we really need to have “active shooter” drills where men point guns at our kids and fire blanks at them? Do we really need to have “relocation drills” where kids are rapidly herded on to buses and told that they must surrender their cell phones because they will not be allowed to call anyone? Our schools more closely resemble prison camps every single day, and it is our children that are suffering because of it.

It is also important to keep in mind that much of the time these drills are not the fault of local school administrators. Often, these drills are being mandated at the state level. Our politicians have become obsessed with “school safety” in recent years, and apparently their idea of “school safety” involves deeply traumatizing our kids.

Earlier today I was doing some research and I came across a forum where a parent was describing a relocation drill that would soon be happening at a school in Oklahoma. Well, I went to public schools all my life and nothing like this ever happened when I was growing up, so I wanted to do a little digging to see if this was actually happening around the country or if it was just an Internet rumor.

Unfortunately, what I found out was quite disturbing.

It turns out that “relocation drills” are being conducted at schools from coast to coast.

For example, the following is an excerpt from a letter to parents about a relocation drill that took place in Woodhaven, Michigan….

Our school district continues to focus on the safety of staff, students, and our community. We have a detailed emergency plan so we can respond effectively to major catastrophes. We work closely with the fire and police departments from the City of Woodhaven and Brownstown Township to implement this plan. As part of these efforts, we are conducting a practice emergency drill on May 19th. It will begin at about 9:20 a.m. and conclude by 11:30 a.m. This practice drill will simulate a boiler explosion at Patrick Henry Middle School. We will evacuate all staff and students from PHMS, Erving Elementary School, and the Administration Building.

The Woodhaven and Brownstown Township Police and Fire Departments, DTE Energy, and staff from Wayne County RESA will help secure the buildings and monitor this practice drill. Erving Elementary staff and students will be evacuated by bus to Bates Elementary School, and PHMS students and staff will be evacuated by bus to Woodhaven High School.

But just putting kids on buses and taking them to other schools was not enough. During the drill, some students and school staff were instructed to pretend to be injured. In addition, parents were instructed not to call the school during the drill and children were instructed not to call their parents….

As part of the drill, we will pretend that some students and staff are injured. Pretend victims will be assessed and transported to nearby triage centers. Please be aware that Hall Road and Van Horn Road may be closed to traffic for all or part of this drill. There will be a number of emergency vehicles at PHMS and Erving Elementary School during the drill. Your cooperation is necessary for this practice drill to be successful. During drills and emergencies like the one we are planning:

• Please do not telephone the school. Telephone lines are needed for drill emergency communications.
• Impress upon your children the need to follow directions and take drills seriously.
• During an evacuation drill or a real emergency, students will be kept at their school or will be evacuated to another site. They will be released only to adults listed on their emergency contact form. Any adult picking up a student (reunification) will be required to show picture identification.
• Students and parents should not communicate by cell phones during the drill or emergency situation. Students need to be attentive to the instructions from school and safety personnel.

But at least in that drill parents knew where their children would be taken.

That was not the case during a recent relocation drill in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho….

Students at Lakeside School District walked out of their schools this morning to prepare for the worst case scenario. They were transferred by bus to an off-site location in less than a hour. But it was only a drill.

Their Bus Evacuation Drill started at 9 a.m. and students were transferred to their undisclosed emergency location and returned back to school.

“As you might expect, student safety is our first priority and security is tight even during a practice,” Karyn Stockdale, district clerk, said.

It was later revealed they were bussed to Benewah Wellness Center as their acting evacuation shelter.

It was “later revealed” where the “undisclosed emergency location” was?

I am sure a whole bunch of parents were thrilled when they heard about that.

What purpose is served by herding kids on to a bus and taking them to an undisclosed location?

School officials just seem to take these little “exercises” way too seriously.

For example, check out the tone in the following excerpt from a school newsletter from one school in Pennsylvania….

“As mentioned in a separate letter in our CB Electronic Envelope last Wednesday, our school will be involved in an Off-Site Relocation Drill. This practice opportunity will sharpen our skills and provide us with the chance to review important safety procedures in the event of an emergency. This Relocation Drill isscheduled for Friday, December 16, 2011. Here are some very important reminders for all parents and families:

SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY!!!!!!

In every classroom, teachers will prepare students for this activity. To ensure that every child and adult arrives safely to the relocation site, no child will be released for any reason during this practice activity or real emergency. All parents are asked to review the detailed letter explaining the official steps for such drills and practice activities.”

No child will be released for any reason?

What if there is a family emergency?

What if a child becomes very ill?

Our schools are becoming way too militarized. It really is quite frightening to see what is happening to us.

It takes a lot of effort to pack up all of the students and all of the staff at a school and ship them off to an alternate location.

The following is another example from one school in Iowa….

The second drill is planned for Thursday at 9:15 a.m. During the second drill officials will simulate a relocation of the entire EE-12 student body and staff by school buses.

For some schools, this kind of a drill has now become a regularly scheduled yearly activity.

The following is from a school handbook in Vermont….

Lockdown drills are practiced several times a year. In a Lockdown students remain quiet and undetectable behind a locked door. Students prepare for these drills and are supported by their teachers. Saint Albans City School practices, at least once a year, an emergency evacuation/relocation drill where we leave the school building and go to alternate sites.

Keep in mind that it says “at least once a year”. That means that it could happen even more frequently if they want it to.

Some schools even have plans for students to be “housed temporarily” at alternative locations. The following is from a school website in California….

Evacuation Plan: Requires that all building occupants leave and go to an alternate location. Evacuation may mean only going outside and away from the building until an all-clear signal is given. In some circumstances, students and staff may need to be transported and housed temporarily in another location until the Go-Home Plan can be put into operation.

In some instances, parents are encouraged not to pick their children up at all in the event of a major emergency. The following is from an article in the Washington Post….

School administrators in the Washington area yesterday stepped up preparations for possible terrorism, and most school districts told parents that they would be prevented, or strongly discouraged, from picking up their children in the event of a biological or chemical attack.

So what measures would be taken to keep parents from getting to their children?

That is a frightening thing to think about.

But these “relocation drills” are not the only kind of drills that parents need to be aware of.

In many areas of the country, schools are holding “active shooter” drills where men in full military gear are pointing guns at children and firing blank rounds.

The following is one recent example that happened in Brecksville, Ohio….

The emergency drill at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High involved hundreds of students, including members of the Drama Club who portrayed wounded and panicked students.

Junior Ashley Elek said Chardon High School was on their minds as they went through the very realistic looking drill, in which many students were “killed” and “wounded.”

In many areas of the country, there is not always advance notice of these “active shooter” drills. Sometimes students are told that there will be an “active shooter” drill and sometimes they are not.

Sometimes teachers do not even know that an “active shooter” drill is coming. When that happens, the results can be incredibly traumatic.

Just check out the following example from New Jersey….

About 50 teachers at a New Jersey school experienced a terrifying moment when a shooting rampage turned out to be a drill, but the teachers didn’t know it.

It happened Aug. 28 at the Phillipsburg New Jersey Early Learning Center.

A man burst into the library and started shooting. But the gun didn’t have any bullets, just blanks.

Teachers took cover under child-sized tables, crying and trembling.

“People are crying. The girl next to me is trembling and shaking. You heard people crying. You heard other people praying. It was pretty dramatic,” one teacher said.

Can you imagine?

Why would we ever want to put our children through that?

I think that some of these twisted sickos actually enjoy the thought of making little kids pee their pants.

In some cases, children are told during these “exercises” that a particular group of Americans is attacking the school.

For example, during a terror drill at a public school in Muskegon County, Michigan, students and teachers were told that “homeschoolers” were the ones attacking them….

“The exercise will simulate an attack by a fictitious radical group called Wackos Against Schools and Education who believe everyone should be homeschooled. Under the scenario, a bomb is placed on the bus and is detonated while the bus is traveling on Durham, causing the bus to land on its side and fill with smoke.”

In another case in New Jersey, students were told that the gunmen were from a group of “fundamentalist Christians” called “The New Crusaders”….

“Investigators described them as members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the ‘New Crusaders’ who don’t believe in separation of church and state. The mock gunmen went to the school seeking justice because the daughter of one had been expelled for praying before class.”

What possible purpose do drills like those have?

Sadly, those running things keep wanting to make these kinds of drills as frequent as possible.

In New Jersey, new guidelines require that a “security drill” be held at public schools at least once a month.

As you can see from this document, an “evacuation to relocation site” drill is one of the kinds of drills that can be chosen to satisfy this requirement in New Jersey….

The following are examples of other security drills that schools can hold:

• Shelter-in-place; Reverse evacuation; Evacuation to relocation site; Testing of school’s notification system and procedures; Testing of school’s communication system and procedures; Tabletop exercise; and Full scale exercise.

When I was growing up, there was just one kind of emergency exercise. When the fire alarm sounded, we all trudged out to the football field. We stood around and talked for a few minutes and then we went back inside.

But the environment in U.S. public schools today is totally different. Our children are being forced to endure endless “relocation drills”, “lockdown drills” and “active shooter drills”.

These drills are just another reason why many parents have decided that it is time to pull their kids out of the government schools entirely.

Our public schools more closely resemble prison camps than they do institutions of learning. Millions of our kids are leaving high school dumb as a rock, but they do know what to do when the alarm goes off.

There are many reasons to get your kids out of government schools ranging from physical violence to forced vaccinations. The violence done to children within the school system is now reaching into the areas of mental trauma, as well as forced ideology and politics.

The Washington Post reports that an honor roll student and 3 others at Northwestern High School in Maryland were recently suspended for their political activism. The public school system is now becoming a horrible microcosm of a wider society that is ready to stifle all forms of dissent and challenges to authority. This is nothing short of slave training to accept the police state waiting upon graduation.

Thom Hartmann spoke with two students involved in this challenge to fundamental free speech, as well as their right to demand a better quality of life and education through grassroots activism. These two students also demonstrate the resolve needed in the face of tyrannical actions.

Suspensions at Northwestern High in Md. create an uproar

One week, Shane James, an honor roll student at Northwestern High School in Prince George's County, was lauded for his political activism.

The next, he was removed from classes for attempting to effect change.

Northwestern Principal Edgar Batenga suspended James, 16, and three other students on March 1 for organizing a walkout to increase teacher pay, improve the quality of education and demand an apology to Filipino teachers who will lose their jobs because their visas will expire.

"We were trying to be politically active and show our concern for education," said Boris Mitiuriev, 18, a senior who planned to participate in the walkout. "It's just outrageous."

The suspensions have created a firestorm. Many, including community leaders and Occupy protesters, argue that the students' rights to free speech and to assemble appear to have been violated. They are demanding that the suspensions be removed from the students' permanent records.

"I am really upset," said Danielle Duvall, James's mother. "My son didn't do anything that was illegal or wrong. He's not a troublemaker. He's one of the good guys."

Batenga said the students received a five-day suspension because they incited a disruption.

The students spent months planning the walkout, and they had more than 400 members of the 2,274-member student body prepared to participate.

According to the plan, the demonstrators were to meet outside at 2:40 p.m., at the end of third period. No one showed up, however, because Batenga, a first-year principal, had squashed the plans that day. He became aware of the planned demonstration the night before and made an early morning announcement instructing students not to participate.

As homeschooling families continue to flee Sweden in the face of escalating persecution, the global outcry over the controversial Swedish policies is growing louder. More than a few critics and reporters have even blasted the government’s actions and behavior as reminiscent of the former Soviet Union.

In recent days, a senior U.S. lawmaker and popular televangelist Pat Robertson have spoken about the situation as well. And Jews around the world are concerned about the fate of a Jewish homeschooling family being targeted in Sweden, too.

The Swedish government was already facing worldwide criticism from human rights groups for what opponents called its “kidnapping” of Domenic Johansson. The then-7-year-old homeschooler was abducted from an airplane bound for India by police after his parents refused to stop educating him at home — and that was in June of 2009, while homeschooling was still technically legal. The boy remains in state custody, completely isolated from his parents.

The ongoing tragedy drew prompt condemnation from around the world. Organizations like the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), Advocates International, the Network for Freedom in Education, the Nordic Committee for Human Rights, and many more all got involved. Media outlets from every corner of the globe picked up the story, too, shattering Sweden’s image as a “social utopia.”

And now, the pressure just got turned up another notch. After a tear-jerking report about the Johansson family’s plight by the Christian Broadcasting Network, popular television evangelist Pat Robertson — an American media icon with incalculable global influence — offered his comments: “It’s so amazing — this family was leaving,” he said. “They were on an airplane — on an airplane leaving — so what do the Swedes care whether they were homeschooling their kid? They were leaving the country!”

Parents protest freedom-crushing food police who search lunch bags of schoolchildren

In response to a recent incident in North Carolina where government food police confiscated a four-year-old’s homemade lunch and forced her to eat processed chicken nuggets, a group of parents recently held a “lunch-in” at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., to take a stand for food freedom. Organized by theNational Center for Public Policy Research(NCPPR), the lunch-in featured turkey and cheese sandwiches, potato chips, bananas, and apple juice boxes, which were the very same foods nabbed by the unidentified school agent.

In case you missed it, an official fromWest Hoke Elementary Schoolin Raeford, N.C., recently decided that one young student’s sack lunch did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines for a healthy meal. So he or she — the school still has not disclosed the identity of the agent — confiscated the girl’s lunch, and forced her to purchase chicken nuggets from the school’s cafeteria (http://www.naturalnews.com).

The USDA’s guidelines state that sack lunches brought from home must contain one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of either fruit or vegetables. While the young girl’s lunch contained cheese, it did not contain “milk,” and also only contained one serving of fruit, which is presumably why the agent felt it necessary to confiscate her lunch and force her through the cafeteria line. At the same time, the Division of Child Development reportedly stated in a later review that the girl’s lunch appears to have met all the guidelines, and that the confiscation was unwarranted.

The irony, of course, is that the three processed chicken nuggets the girl ended up eating fail even worse to meet the USDA guidelines, which are questionable in the first place. Processed, homogenized milk products, for instance, which are obviously what the USDA is referring to with the “one serving of milk” category, are hardly nutritious, as a recent study out ofHarvard Universityfound that processed milk from factory farms is linked to causing cancer (http://www.naturalnews.com/035081_pasteurized_milk_cancer_dairy.html).

But the government has no business regulating, let alone invasively inspecting, the home-packed lunches of schoolchildren, and forcing them to eat government-sanctioned cafeteria food, regardless of the circumstances. And part of NCPPR’s demonstration was to stand in solidarity for food freedom against a government that is “waging war on lunch.”

Alberta Law Would Ban Homeschool Parents From Teaching Against Homosexuality

If you want to witness the eventual direction of “diversity” in America, you may want to take a long look at what is happening in Canada. Under the new Education Act poised for implementation in Alberta, Christian schools and homeschool parents would be prohibited, as part of their academic program, from teaching children that homosexuality is sinful.

Donna McColl, a spokesperson for the province’s Education Minister, Thomas Lukaszuk, confirmed to LifeSiteNews.com: “Whatever the nature of schooling — homeschool, private school, Catholic school — we do not tolerate disrespect for differences. You can affirm the family’s ideology in your family life, you just can’t do it as part of your educational study and instruction.”

LifeSiteNews noted that Section 16 of the proposed new law reiterates the existing School Act’s requirement “that schools ‘reflect the diverse nature’ of Alberta in their curriculum, but it adds that they must also ‘honour and respect’ the controversial Alberta Human Rights Act that has been used to target Christians with traditional beliefs on homosexuality.” The Education Act stipulates that, in addition to public education facilities, the term “school” includes homeschool families as well as private schools.

In an interview with LifeSiteNews, McColl assured that Christian homeschool families could continue to teach biblical truths regarding homosexuality to their children, “as long as it’s not part of their academic program of studies and instructional materials. What they want to do about their ideology elsewhere, that’s their family business. But a fundamental nature of our society is to respect diversity.”

However, reported LifeSiteNews, when pressed about “what the precise distinction is between homeschoolers’ instruction and their family life, McColl said the question involved ‘real nuances’ and she would have to get back with specifics” — meaning, of course, that the law would most likely be a moving target homeschool families would find impossible to hit.

School Gives Detroit teen four vaccines without mother’s permission

(NaturalNews) Marcus Garvey Academy in Detroit, Mich., and St. John Providence Health System are in hot water after a student was forcibly administered four vaccinations recently without her mother’s permission. WXYZ News 5 in Detroit reports that Sighle Kinney’s 14-year-old daughter was pulled out of class on January 30, 2012, and given vaccinations for hepatitis A, seasonal influenza, meningitis, and HPV (Gardasil) by nurses from St. John’s, despite Sighle’s previously-stated opposition to her daughter receiving medical treatments from the school.

According to reports, Sighle was not notified by either school or hospital officials of their intentions to administer vaccines to her daughter. Not only is Sighle opposed to the vaccines that were given, but she has expressed anger over the fact that officials deliberately ignored her written filing with the school not to administer any medical treatments without her expressed permission.

“She comes home, hands me the envelope with the shot record in it that they gave her at school. And when I looked at it I said, ‘What is this?’ And she was like ‘They gave me shots, and they took blood, and they took urine,’” explained Sighle about the situation with her daughter to WXYZ. “Why would they give you an HPV (vaccine)? I never wanted you to have an HPV (vaccine). And as far as you getting injections, you have your own private physician. I don’t need them to do that in school for you.”

Besides simple treatments like a bandage for a cut, for instance, or an aspirin for a headache, Sighle had explicitly told the school prior to the incident never to administer any medical treatments without her permission. She also told WXYZ that it was her intention to specifically protect her daughter from these vaccines, particularly the HPV vaccine, which is linked to thousands of permanent adverse reactions, and more than 100 deaths (http://sanevax.org/).

“I’m angry with everybody, because nobody called and asked me anything,” said Sighle. “St. John’s, they should have better nurses. How are you gonna overlook something that severe? This is my child, you injected my child with medicine that I never wanted her to have.”

Sighle says her daughter missed several days of school after getting the shots because of adverse reactions. According to Sighle, her daughter developed a severe rash all over her body, and is now concerned that other long-term health problems will emerge as a result of the vaccines.

It should be painfully obvious to everyone by now that it is time to get all of our kids out of the government schools. The public school system in the United States and Canada has been dramatically declining for a long time, and in most areas of the country the public schools are open sewers at this point. Yes, there are some U.S. public schools that are still very good and that do a decent job of preparing our young people for their adult lives. But those good schools are the exception to the rule. Hopefully the school shooting that just happened in Ohio will be a wake up call to millions of parents out there. Drugs, sex and violence are rampant in American public schools today. The “teachers” are endlessly pushing specific political and social agendas down the throats of our kids, and the skills that our children really need such as reading, writing and mathematics are often badly neglected. Hopefully we can get more parents educated about what is really going on in these schools. After all, why would any parents want to send their children into an environment that is going to be highly destructive for them for six to eight hours a day?

Sadly, “destructive” is not too hard a word to use for the environment in these public schools. I went to public schools all my life, and they were absolutely horrible. Unfortunately, they have gotten even worse since the time that I left them.

The following are 11 reasons to get your kids out of the government schools….

#1 You Could Be Arrested For Something That Your Child Does

Yes, you read that correctly. If your child writes a story or draws a picture which a teacher or an administrator takes the wrong way, you could end up in jail.

The following example is from thestar.com….

A Kitchener father is angry at police after he was arrested at his child’s school and later strip-searched at the police station, all because his 4-year-old daughter drew a picture of a gun in class.

“I’m picking up my kids and then, next thing you know, I’m locked up,” Jessie Sansone, 26, said of his ordeal on Wednesday. “I was in shock. This is completely insane.”

The school principal, police and child welfare officials, however, all stand by their actions. They say they had to investigate to determine whether there was a gun in Sansone’s house that children had access to.

#2 Your Child Could Be Arrested While At School For Just About Anything These Days

As I have written about previously, children all over the United States are being arrested by police in government school classrooms for some absolutely crazy things. Just check out the following examples….

*A 12-year-old girl named Sarah Bustamantes was recently arrested for spraying herself with perfume at a public school in Texas.

*A 13-year-old kid attending a public school in Albuquerque, New Mexico was recently arrested by police for burping in class.

*A 12-year-old girl at a school in Forest Hills, New York was marched out of her public school in handcuffs by police just because she doodled on her desk. “I love my friends Abby and Faith” was what she reportedly scribbled on her desk.

*When a little girl recently kissed a little boy at one Florida elementary school, it was considered to be a “possible sex crime” and the police were called out.

#3 Your Child Might Be Bodily Harmed By Security Thugs

All over the nation, public schools students are being bodily injured (sometimes permanently) by school security thugs. The following are a couple of examples….

*A security thug at one school in California actually fractured the arm of one 16-year-old girl because she left some crumbs on the floor after cleaning up some cake that she had spilled.

*In Allentown, Pennsylvania a 14-year-old girl was tasered in the groin area by a school security thug even though she had put up her hands in the air to surrender to him.

#4 Virtually Everything That Your Child Does At School Is Being Put Into A Database Somewhere

As I described in a previous article, public schools (in conjunction with the federal government) have become obsessed with watching, monitoring and recording the activities of our kids.

According to the New York Post, the Obama administration is planning a vast new database which will collect all sorts of information about our children. Is this the kind of information that you want the federal government to keep track of?….

The administration wants this data to include much more than name, address and test scores. According to the National Data Collection Model, the government should collect information on health-care history, family income and family voting status. In its view, public schools offer a golden opportunity to mine reams of data from a captive audience.

#5 Our Kids Are Not Learning Anything In These Public Schools

As I have documented before, American public school students are being dumbed-down and millions of them end up dumb as a rock and yet still are able to graduate from high school somehow….

The following are some of the absolutely amazing results of a study conducted a few years ago by Common Core….

*Only 43 percent of all U.S. high school students knew that the Civil War was fought some time between 1850 and 1900.

*More than a quarter of all U.S. high school students thought that Christopher Columbus made his famous voyage across the Atlantic Ocean after the year 1750.

*Approximately a third of all U.S. high school students did not know that the Bill of Rights guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of religion. (This is a topic that I touched on yesterday).

*Only 60 percent of all U.S. students knew that World War I was fought some time between 1900 and 1950.

Sadly, we are rapidly falling behind the rest of the globe. At this point, 15-year-olds that attend U.S. public schools do not even rank in the top half of all advanced nations when it comes to math or science literacy.

#6 Our Public School Kids Are Being Forced To Take Large Numbers Of Vaccines

All over the nation, children that have not received all of the “required vaccines” are being banned from school.

Many parents do not want dozens of toxic vaccines injected directly into the bloodstreams of their kids, but in many states today you will not be able to send your kids to the public schools if they don’t submit to the shots.

This is just another reason why all American families should pull their kids out of these government schools immediately.

#7 Exposed To Rampant Sexual Promiscuity

When you send your kid to a government school, you are sending them into an environment where they will be exposed to rampant sexual promiscuity on an endless basis.

When the kids around you are constantly talking about sex and joking about sex, it makes it nearly impossible to escape it.

What makes things even worse is that the “sex education” courses are becoming more detailed and more graphic than ever. One example of this phenomenon was detailed in the New York Times….

IMAGINE you have a 10- or 11-year-old child, just entering a public middle school. How would you feel if, as part of a class ostensibly about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, he and his classmates were given “risk cards” that graphically named a variety of solitary and mutual sex acts? Or if, in another lesson, he was encouraged to disregard what you told him about sex, and to rely instead on teachers and health clinic staff members?

In some U.S. public schools, kids are even having sex in the school bathrooms.

#8 Teachers Are Having Sex With The Students

It seems like almost every single day there is another news story about teachers having sex with public school students.

#9 U.S. Public Schools Are Dominated By Radical Control Freaks That Are Teaching Our Kids How To Live Like Slaves

The level of control that is exerted over the lives of children in many of our public schools is absolutely frightening.

I know that I have mentioned the following example several times, but it is worth repeating because it shows just how far things have gone. One 4-year-old girl recently had her lunch confiscated by a control freak at one U.S. preschool because it did not meet USDA guidelines….

A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because the school told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.

The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the person who was inspecting all lunch boxes in the More at Four classroom that day.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs – including in-home day care centers – to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.

Do you want sick control freaks inspecting the lunches that your kids bring from home every single day?

If not, perhaps it is time to pull them out of the government schools.

#10 Specific Social And Political Agendas Are Being Shoved Down The Throats Of Our Kids In U.S. Public Schools

If you think that the government schools are “neutral places” where all social, political and religious beliefs are tolerated, then you are either ignorant or you are delusional.

The truth is that very specific social and political agendas are built into the curriculums of most public schools. Often, these social and political agendas are the same ones that are being force-fed to public school children in other western nations.

If your children are attending a government school, a system of “right and wrong” is being pounded into their heads that may be very different from what you would teach them.

In one recent New York Times article, a district superintendent admitted that particular agendas are integrated into classroom instruction anywhere that they will fit….

“We’re trying to integrate it into anything where it naturally fits,” said Jackie Taylor, the district’s superintendent. “It might be in a math lesson. How much water are you really using? How can you tell? Teachers look for avenues in almost everything they teach.”

If you want to see where all of this is going, just check out what is going on in Europe. In the UK, teachers that don’t promote the “correct agenda” face harsh disciplinary action.

Those that control the public schools don’t just want to “educate” your children.

They want to indoctrinate them.

#11 If Your Children Attend Public Schools They Could End Up Dead

Sadly, the school shooting that just happened in Ohio reminds us all once again that this is a matter of life and death. Our schools are not safe and they are becoming less safe all the time.

While the odds are not great that your children will actually be murdered in our public schools, the truth is that there is a very good chance that they could be scarred for life by the destructive environment in these schools.

Most Americans that have gone through the public school system emerge from it with deep emotional scars. If you have some of these emotional scars you know exactly what I am talking about.

The vast majority of our public schools are horrible places. Just ask kids that are going to public high schools right now. Most of them hate it.

Sometimes people argue that we should keep our children in the public schools so that they can be a “light” and so that they can be a good influence.

Unfortunately, that is just not the reality of the situation. Our kids go there to be taught, and it is the teachers that have the authority. Our children are far more likely to be changed by their teachers and their friends than they are to significantly change the system around them.

When you are young and insecure, it can be incredibly difficult to take a stand for what is right when all of your teachers and all of your friends are going the other way.

We need to protect our children and we need to put them into environments where they will be safe, protected and will receive a quality education.

Growing up is hard enough without having to spend 30 to 40 hours a week in a nightmarish hellhole where you will be physically, mentally and emotionally tortured.
