Every victim of a crime in Michigan is entitled to make a statement in open court regarding the impact of the crime on their life. The statement is limited to the victim's physical, emotional and financial well being as it relates to the crime. Keep that in mind as you read my statement. Below is a copy of the victim impact statement I gave today at the Underwear Bomber sentencing hearing. When reading my statement, keep in mind that I am a practicing attorney in the State of Michigan. In addition, I regularly practice in the Court the hearings are taking place at and therefore, I am somewhat limited as to what I can say. We were limited to 5 minutes each.

I wish to thank the Court for allowing me these 5 minutes to make my statement. My references to the government in this statement refer to the Federal Government excluding this Court and the prosecution. On Christmas Day 2009, my wife and I were returning from an African safari and had a connecting flight through Amsterdam. As we waited for our flight, we sat on the floor next to the boarding gate. What I witnessed while sitting there and subsequent events have changed my life forever. While I sat there, I witnessed Umar dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, being escorted around security by a man in a tan suit who spoke perfect American English and who aided Umar in boarding without a passport. The airline gate worker initially refused Umar boarding until the man in the tan suit intervened. The event meant nothing to me at the time. Little did I know that Umar would try to kill me a few hours later as our flight approached Detroit. The final 10 minutes of our flight after the attack were the worst minutes of my life. During those 10 minutes I sat paralyzed in fear. Unfortunately, what happened next has had an even greater impact on my life and has saddened me further.

When we landed, I was shocked that our plane taxied up to the gate. I was further shocked that we were forced to sit on the plane for 20 minutes with powder from the so called bomb all over the cabin. The officers that boarded the plane did nothing to ensure our safety and did not check for accomplices or other explosive devices. Several passengers trampled through parts of the bomb as they exited the plane. We were then taken into the terminal with our unchecked carry on bags. Again, there was no concern for our safety even though Umar told the officers that there was another bomb on board as he exited the plane. I wondered why nobody was concerned about our safety, accomplices or other bombs and the lack of concern worried me greatly. I immediately told the FBI my story in order to help catch the accomplice I had seen in Amsterdam. It soon became obvious that the FBI wasn't interested in what I had to say, which upset me further. For one month the government refused to admit the existence of the man in the tan suit before changing course and admitting his existence in an ABC News article on January 22, 2010. That was the last time the government talked about this man. The video that would prove the truth of my account has never been released. I continue to be emotionally upset that the video has not been released. The Dutch police, meanwhile, in this article (show article), also confirmed that Umar did not show his passport in Amsterdam which also meant that he didn't go through security as both are in the same line in Amsterdam. It upsets me that the government refuses to admit this fact.

Shocking video shows that a crazed member of the Houston Police Department pulled a shotgun on a peaceful but vocal crowd as it tried to shut down a free event with more than one hundred people in attendance at a private residence on the premise of a noise complaint. The officer drew the weapon and put a round in the chamber to intimidate the crowd just after forcibly pulling out one Micah Jackson from the crowd, who was later cuffed but released without charge during the January 27 incident caught on cell phone cameras.

The crowd denounced the police’s love of ‘authority’ over ‘freedom.’ An officer can even be heard in the video stating “your freedom ends tonight.” Excess force in policing is the kind of abuse that led to the 1776 revolution against tyranny.

Houston’s Police Chief Charles McClelland has issued a statement promising a thorough investigation of the officer’s conduct, as well as the detainment of Jackson.

Derrick Broze, who was leader of the Houston Free Thinkers group putting on the event, says he spoke to police about the complaint and agreed to shut down one of the three stages. “They brought excessive force for a sound complaint. They could have just brought an officer or two and talked it out,” KHOU quoted Broze as stating.

Instead, Broze was harassed over not having an ID card and later arrested. Initially, he says, police tried to charge him with felony count for inciting a riot, but in the end booked him on a Class C Misdemeanor for ‘failure to obey an order.’ Broze told Infowars that order was never made clear to him; however, he plead guilty to the Class C charge and was released from jail some 15 hours later after time served.

Broze and the Houston Free Thinkers have formally requested a meeting with the city’s mayor, police chief and officer involved to discuss the issue, but are currently awaiting a response.

Coverage at KHOU includes several neighbors who approved of the officer’s pulling a shotgun, as well as a former FBI official who said he observed no misconduct and even condoned the officer’s “muzzle discipline”:

A driver in diabetic shock was kicked in the head several times in a shocking display of police brutality that won him $158,000 in a lawsuit.

Adam Greene, of Las Vegas, was pulled over at about 4am on October 29, 2010 after a Nevada State Trooper spotted him weaving in traffic.

The video, recorded more than a year ago by a police car dashboard camera, was released Tuesday by Greene's lawyers. The same night, the Henderson City Council approved a settlement of $158,500 for Greene. His wife received $99,000 from Henderson, which is just under the minimum amount that requires council approval.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers also participated in the traffic stop but do not appear to kick or knee Greene on the video. The state has agreed to pay $35,000 to Greene for a total of $292,500 between the two agencies.

It was a Highway Patrol vehicle camera that captured the incident.

A US Marine accused over the killing of 24 Iraqis in 2005 was demoted but will serve no time behind bars, a judge ruled, as locals in Iraq condemned the light sentence.

Staff Sergeant Frank Wuterich, who led an eight-man squad whose other members have all been let off, was sentenced to 90 days confinement but he will not serve them under a deal with prosecutors.

The 31-year-old admitted one count of negligent dereliction of duty Monday, but charges of manslaughter over the killings — whose victims included women and children — were dropped as part of a plea deal.

Wuterich — who denied he was a “cold-blooded baby-killer” — was sentenced to 90 days of confinement and reduction to private (E-1), said a statement from Camp Pendleton, California, where he has been on court martial.

The last U.S. Marine facing charges stemming from the November 19, 2005, Haditha massacre will lose some stripes, but not serve any time in jail after pleading guilty.

Staff Sergeant Frank Wuterich entered a guilty plea on one count of dereliction of duty, as part of a deal worked out between his defense lawyers and military prosecutors. He will be busted down to private, and remains on active duty.

At his sentencing Wuterich, who gave the order to shoot on sight, apologized to the Iraqi survivors for what he and his men did—killing 24 civilians, including three women, seven children and a 76-year-old man in a wheelchair, after a Marine died in a roadside bombing. The incident is considered the worst case of non-bomb-related killings of Iraqi civilians by Americans.

Many Iraqis were beside themselves after learning Wuterich would not go to jail.

“The Americans killed children who were hiding inside the cupboards or under the beds,” Rafid Abdul Majeed Hadithi, a Haditha teacher who says he witnessed the attack, told the Los Angeles Times. “Was this Marine charged with dereliction of duty because he didn’t kill more? Is Iraqi blood so cheap?”

Iraqi photographer Thair Thabit Hadithi told the Times, “The crime changed Iraqis’ opinions toward the Americans. We had the idea that they respected human rights and respected humanity. But it seems they did not.”

“Rumour” used to have a bad reputation. In Shakespeare’s plays it is assumed that “rumours” mean artful lies and the spreading of detailed but false accounts of victory and defeat. No journalist could credibly tell of massacre, torture and mass arrests, citing “strong rumours” as the sole evidence for the story. Editors at whatever newspaper, television or radio station the reporter worked on would shake their heads in disbelief at such a vague and dubious source and almost certainly refuse to run it.

But suppose that our journalist takes out the word “rumour” and substitutes “YouTube” or “blogger” as the source. Then, going by recent experience, editors will nod it through, possibly commending their man or woman for judicious use of the internet. The BBC and other television stations happily run nightly pictures of mayhem from Syria, grandly disclaiming responsibility for their authenticity. These disclaimers are intoned so often that they now have as much impact on viewers as warnings that a news report may contain flash photography. People understandably believe that if the BBC and other channels were not convinced of the truth of YouTube pictures they would not be using them as their main source of information on Syria.

YouTube pictures may have played a positive role in the uprisings of the Arab Spring, but the international media is largely mute about how easy it is to manipulate them. Pictured from the right angle, a small demonstration can be made to look like a gathering of tens of thousands. Shootings in one street in one town can be used to manufacture “evidence” of shooting in a dozen towns. Demonstrations need not be genuine events luckily captured on mobile phone cameras by concerned citizens; frequently the only reason for the protest is to provide material for YouTube. Television companies are not going to reject or underline the stage management of film that is free, dramatic, up to date – and which they could not match with regular correspondents and film crews even if they spent a lot of money.

In the print press, bloggers get an equally easy ride, even though there is no proof that they know anything about what is going on. Hence the ease with which a male American student in Scotland was able to pretend to be a persecuted lesbian in Damascus. Since the Iraq war, even the most intensely partisan bloggers have been presented as sources of objective information. Tarnished though they may now be, they still have a certain cachet and credibility.

GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry has defended the marines who were seen on video deplorably urinating on the dead corpses of alleged Taliban fighters.

Rather than condemn the actions of the individuals, Perry told CNN’s State of the Union “These kids made a mistake. There’s not any doubt about it. They shouldn’t have done it. It’s bad.”

“To call it a criminal act, I think, is over the top,” said Perry, who is desperately trying to keep his campaign alive ahead of the South Carolina Republican presidential primary on Saturday.

Perry bizarrely suggested that the incident was comparable to a picture of Army General George Patton urinating in the Rhine River in Germany near the end of World War Two.

He then added that “Although there’s not a picture,” British Prime Minister Winston “Churchill did the same thing on the Siegfried line.”

The obvious difference, viewers may point out, is that Patton and Churchill were not pissing on the corpses of dead German soldiers.

Still, Perry stuck to the line, accusing critics of “over-the-top rhetoric” and “disdain for the military”.

“Going after them as a criminal act, I think [is] really a bad message,” Perry said.

US law and the Geneva Conventions forbid the desecration of dead bodies. Officials have called for the four marines to be quickly punished for their actions, fearing that tentative peace talks with Taliban senior figures could be undermined.

Perry is currently polling dead last in South Carolina with around 5 percent. He came bottom of the pack in New Hampshire with less than 1 percent. It is not hard to understand why that is the case.

WASHINGTON — A video appearing to show U.S. Marines urinating on the bodies of dead Taliban fighters promises to become an enduring memory of the Afghan war and is already drawing sharp reaction from across the world as it goes viral on the Internet.

But experts inside and outside the U.S. military are so far unconvinced the incident will cause as much damage as Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal did, even as it stirs anti-American sentiment and revives questions about why some American troops appear prone to committing abuses — and then proudly documenting them.

Like in the 2004 Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal, in which U.S. troops photographed themselves humiliating and intimidating detainees, the Americans shown in the Marine video appeared to have wanted a record of themselves desecrating the corpses of the men they had just killed.

Cracking jokes, like “have a great day, buddy,” as they urinate on the dead, they are aware the video is being taken. Near the end of the clip, one of the Americans seeks to confirm that the video caught everything.

Video of McVeigh Destroys OKC Bombing Official Story: Director Bill Bean Speaks Out 1/2

A video that shows Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh at a U.S. military base that specializes in explosives and demolition training over a year after he supposedly left the army puts the official story of the April 19 1995 federal building bombing under serious doubt and mandates a re-opening of an investigation into the terror attack that killed 168 people.

The video was released by Bill Bean, a film producer who has suffered intense surveillance and harassment since taking the footage, and is the subject of a February 2007 Hustler Magazine feature story.

On August 3rd 1993, Bean was given a tour of the Camp Grafton military facility in North Dakota as part of a research effort to scout possible shooting locations for a film he was working on. Bean met the Camp Superintendent Col. Dahl and was permitted to film every location he visited.

Bean takes up the story, "I videotaped all locations as possible future shot sites even if there was no actual scene written for that location. I watched them for a moment and then did a slow 360 with my camera and came back to them."

Given permission to board the tank, Bean walked over and pointed the camera inside, at which point one of the soldiers turned around and, appearing somewhat shocked to see the camera, uttered a brief response to Bean's question and attempted to push past him.

That individual has now been positively identified to be Timothy McVeigh, who according to the official timeline as endorsed by the FBI, was honorably discharged from the military for the last time in May 1992. And yet he is seen here on tape at a U.S. military base over a year after that date in August of 1993.

"I did not realize how significant what I had was, for many years," states Bean, "It was not until Mcveigh's trial that I realized it was Mcveigh in the tank. Even then the larger point escaped me. That point is, McVeigh was not supposed to be in the military at that time. His military record shows him enlisting in 1988, being honorably discharged from the Army, on Dec. 31, 1991.

His records then show he was in the Army reserve in Buffalo New York, from January 1992 until May 1992, he was then honorably discharged from the Army reserve. After May of 1992 he was never again in uniform on any base anywhere, never again part of the military. He was totally out of military service. The FBI states the only time they lose track of McVeigh, in his entire life, is the late summer of 93. They think he was somewhere between Kingman Arizona and Decker Michigan. Probably at gun shows, meeting antigovernment rightwing militia types. But he wasn't, he was at Camp Grafton, in uniform, learning explosives and demolition!"

To confirm that the individual in the tape was indeed McVeigh, Bean presented the video to Prof. Blomgren of the University of Utah, who then undertook a voice forensics analysis. The results produced an 86% match for the voice characteristics heard in the video compared to those taken from a 60 Minutes interview with McVeigh.

Though in a response to Hustler the North Dakota National Guard denied McVeigh was ever present at Camp Grafton, they did confirm that demolitions training is part of the regimen at the facility.

The fact that the planet is being bombarded with chemicals from high-altitude spraying as part of numerous geoengineering programs being conducted by U.S. government agencies and universities that have been approved with no oversight whatsoever can no longer be denied.

The re-classification of global warming, a highly contentious and often scientifically fraudulent pseudo-science, as a "national security threat" has been exploited by governments as an excuse to play God, green lighting secret experiments on a massive scale that carry innumerable dangers to humans and their environment.

However, now that increasing awareness of geoengineering as a result of the chemtrails phenomenon has propagated widely, authorities are slowly being forced to disclose certain aspects of the program. We are now not far away from full disclosure of the true extent of geoengineering experimentation.

Scientists now admit that vapor trails from aeroplanes are creating "artificial clouds" that block out the sun. This is no longer a matter of debate. The chemtrail "conspiracy theorists" were proven correct.

Reading University's Professor Keith Shine told the Daily Mail last year that the clouds "formed by aircraft fumes could linger 'for hours', depriving those areas under busy flight paths, such as London and the Home Counties, of summer sunshine."

"Experts have warned that, as a result, the amount of sunlight hitting the ground could be reduced by as much as ten per cent. Professor Shine added: "Over the busiest areas in London and the South of England, this high-level cloud could cover the sky, turning bright sunshine into hazy conditions for the entire area. I expect the effects will get worse as the volume of air traffic increases."

The report also makes reference to a 2009 Met Office study which found that high-level winds did not disperse contrails that later formed into clouds which covered an astonishing 20,000 miles.

Of course, only the completely naive would suggest that there is no connection between chemtrails that block out the sun, a phenomenon that has been ongoing for over a decade, and open calls on behalf of scientists to 'reduce global warming' by injecting the atmosphere with aerosols.

Mainstream science and academia has gone from dismissing chemtrails as a fantasy of paranoid conspiracy theorists to now accepting that they exist but claiming that they are natural and not artificially induced, despite numerous patents and scientific proposals that focus around using man-made dispersal of aerosols to alter the atmosphere.

The proposal to disperse sulphur dioxide in an attempt to reflect sunlight was discussed in a September 2008 London Guardian article entitled, Geoengineering: The radical ideas to combat global warming, in which Ken Caldeira, a leading climate scientist based at the Carnegie Institution in Stanford, California, promoted the idea of injecting the atmosphere with aerosols.

"One approach is to insert "scatterers" into the stratosphere," states the article. "Caldeira cites an idea to deploy jumbo jets into the upper atmosphere and deposit clouds of tiny particles there, such as sulphur dioxide. Dispersing around 1m tonnes of sulphur dioxide per year across 10m square kilometres of the atmosphere would be enough to reflect away sufficient amounts of sunlight."

The Department of Justice is attempting to criminalize uploading videos that break You Tube's terms of service, along with any other online action that is deemed to contravene a website's usage policy, in a shocking expansion of cybersecurity laws deemed draconian by critics.

"In a statement obtained by CNET that's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, the Justice Department argues that it must be able to prosecute violations of Web sites' often-ignored, always-unintelligible "terms of service" policies," writes Declan McCullagh.

Such violations would include creating a fake Facebook profile, lying about your weight on dating websites, or providing any other item of false information that violates a website's TOS agreement.

Under the DOJ's new legal framework, an expansion of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), agreeing to a website's terms of service would be identical to signing a contract with an employer, with similar punishments for breaking that contract.

"To the Justice Department, this means that a Web site's terms of service define what's "authorized" or not, and ignoring them can turn you into a felon," writes McCullagh, pointing out that millions of Americans violate 'terms of agreement' policies every single day.

Indeed, in the case of You Tube, users are often informed months or even years later that they may have infringed on the company's 'terms of service' agreement if another user merely complains about the content of their video.

Attorney Stewart Baker warns that under the newly amended law, users uploading a copyrighted You Tube video more than once would fit into "a pattern of racketeering," with even harsher criminal penalties, "at least if Justice gets its way."

A coalition of free speech organizations from across the political spectrum, including the ACLU, Americans for Tax Reform, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and FreedomWorks have joined forces to oppose the move, savaging the proposed changes as an affront to Internet anonymity in a letter to the Senate.

"If a person assumes a fictitious identity at a party, there is no federal crime," the letter states. "Yet if they assume that same identity on a social network that prohibits pseudonyms, there may again be a CFAA violation. This is a gross misuse of the law."

As we have documented, the attempt to create a Communist Chinese-style system of Internet policing, advocated by Senator Joe Lieberman, mandates that Internet anonymity be outlawed and that a system even more draconian than what was rejected in China -- individual ID's for Internet users -- be put in place.

The attempt to expand CFAA is just one tentacle of an all out war on Internet freedom that has been launched by the federal government. Another piece of legislation that has received bipartisan support, the so-called "Rogue websites bill," would create a Chinese-style ban list where ISPs would be mandated to block certain websites by government decree.

Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Shaffer says that an FBI insider told him the dubious terror plot to assassinate a Saudi ambassador which has been blamed on Iran was likely manufactured by the Obama administration, because no information about the plot even exists within FBI channels.

The plot, an assassination attempt against Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, Adel al-Jubeir, was pinned on an Iranian-American used-car salesman from Texas and subsequently linked by the Obama administration to a wider conspiracy controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

According to the administration, used car salesman Mansour J. Arbabsiar tried to hire assassins from a Mexican drug gang to carry out the murder, but the head of the drug gang turned out to be a DEA agent posing as a Mexican Los Zetas gangster. The story has all the hallmarks of classic FBI entrapment tactics that have characterized almost every major terror bust in recent times.

Having personally interrogated Iranians, Shaffer doubted the fact that members of the elite Quds Force would risk carrying out an assassination in the United States when it would be far easier to conduct such a plot in the middle east.

“It does not smell correctly,” Shaffer told Fox Business host Andrew Napolitano, adding that it was doubtful a successful used car salesman who has been part of the community for 15 years would suddenly become embroiled in an international assassination plot.

Asked by Napolitano if Arbabsiar was the victim of another FBI sting, Shaffer responded, “I think that’s part of it.”

“The FBI’s had a record lately and I did talk to one of my inside guys and he is saying he thinks the same thing, you know why, because he can’t find any real information and he’s got a clearance – so that tells him that there’s something going on that’s extraordinary by the fact that he’s an inside investigator, knows what’s going on and yet, I’m gonna quote here, ‘There’s nothing on this within the DOJ beyond what they’ve talked about publicly’ – which means to him that there’s something very wrong with it,” said Shaffer.

Even the New York Times is now reporting that the dubious nature of the plot has caused “a wave of puzzlement and skepticism from some foreign leaders and outside experts.”

The military-industrial complex has long been searching for a pretext that could be used to justify military strikes against Iran.

In a 2009 report entitled “Which Path to Persia?”, the elitist Brookings Institution wrote, “It would be far more preferable if the United States could cite an Iranian provocation as justification for the airstrikes before launching them. Clearly, the more outrageous, the more deadly, and the more unprovoked the Iranian action, the better off the United States would be.”

The dubious plot has been instantly seized upon by the likes of Hillary Clinton and John Kerry to push for Iran to be further isolated by the international community. Kerry’s comments were perhaps the most bellicose, telling reporters yesterday, “I don’t think anything should be taken off the table at this point in time.”

It has also served as a useful distraction for Attorney General Eric Holder, who is currently under investigation for his role in the infamous Fast and Furious program, which saw the federal government deliver thousands of military-grade weapons to leaders of Mexican drug gangs.

“That the current “alleged” plot pinned on Iran revolves around yet another undercover federal agency conducting a long-term sting operation defies belief,” writes Tony Cartalucci. “That we are expected to believe one of Iran’s most elite military forces left such a sensitive, potentially war-starting operation to a used-car salesman and a drug gang reported in the papers daily for its involvement with US government agencies (and who turns out to actually be undercover DEA agents) is so ridiculous it can only be “made up” as Secretary Clinton puts it. More accurately, it is the result of an impotent US intelligence community incapable of contriving anything more convincing in the face of an ever awakening American public, to bolster its morally destitute agenda. The cartoonish nature of the plot and the arms’ length even its proponents treat it with to maintain plausible deniability is indicative of a dangerously out of control ruling elite and an utterly incompetent, criminally insane government.”

Clearly, the more outrageous, the more deadly, and the more unprovoked the Iranian action, the better off the United States would be. Of course, it would be very difficult for the United States to goad Iran into such a provocation without the rest of the world recognizing this game, which would then undermine it. (One method that would have some possibility of success would be to ratchet up covert regime change efforts in the hope that Tehran would retaliate overtly, or even semi-overtly, which could then be portrayed as an unprovoked act of Iranian aggression.)

This suggests that this option might benefit from being held in abeyance until such time as the Iranians made an appropriately provocative move, as they do from time to time. In that case, it would be less a determined policy to employ airstrikes and instead more of an opportunistic hope that Iran would provide the United States with the kind of provocation that would justify airstrikes. However, that would mean that the use of airstrikes could not be the primary U.S. policy toward Iran (even if it were Washington’s fervent preference), but merely an ancillary contingency to another option that would be the primary policy unless and until Iran provided the necessary pretext.” -page 84-85 of ”Which Path to Persia?“ Brookings Institution, 2009.

Apparently, manufacturing such a “necessary pretext” to unilaterally bomb a nation of 70 million is now also a part of US foreign policy toward Iran. An oafish fabrication announced this week by Attorney General Eric Holder, consisted of an Iranian-American used-car salesman that “allegedly” attempted to hire an undercover US DEA agent, posing as a Mexican Los Zetas gangster, to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the US. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would add “nobody could make that up, right?” Wrong.

The Fortune 500-funded US policy think-tank, Brookings Institution, in 2009 made it quite clear that the US would pursue its interests across the Middle East and would not tolerate a strong, assertive Iran standing in the way. Brookings would acknowledge in their report, however, that Iran sought neither to confront the United States militarily, nor desired to provoke the West into attacking the Islamic Republic, and even declared that Iran’s nuclear threat was more the deterrence it would present toward future US acts of aggression rather than hyped claims of proliferation or unilateral first-strikes.

Many of the enumerated options explored in the Brookings report for destabilizing and overthrowing the Iranian government had already been in the process of being carried out even before the report was published in 2009. This included funding, arming, and training US State Department-listed foreign terrorist organization (#28 on the list), Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK.) To date, covert support, weapons and funding have already made it into MEK’s hands, and select members of the terrorist organization have even received specialized training on US soil. US policy makers, after admitting MEK had the blood of US soldiers and civilians on its hands and that it has “undeniably” conducted terrorist attacks, shockingly wants to remove it from the US foreign terrorist organization list so that it can be worked with more closely in toppling the Iranian government.

Below, Brookings clearly authored this policy now being fully executed:

“Perhaps the most prominent (and certainly the most controversial) opposition group that has attracted attention as a potential U.S. proxy is the NCRI (National Council of Resistance of Iran), the political movement established by the MEK (Mujahedin-e Khalq). Critics believe the group to be undemocratic and unpopular, and indeed anti-American.

In contrast, the group’s champions contend that the movement’s long-standing opposition to the Iranian regime and record of successful attacks on and intelligence-gathering operations against the regime make it worthy of U.S. support. They also argue that the group is no longer anti-American and question the merit of earlier accusations. Raymond Tanter, one of the group’s supporters in the United States, contends that the MEK and the NCRI are allies for regime change in Tehran and also act as a useful proxy for gathering intelligence. The MEK’s greatest intelligence coup was the provision of intelligence in 2002 that led to the discovery of a secret site in Iran for enriching uranium.

Despite its defenders’ claims, the MEK remains on the U.S. government list of foreign terrorist organizations. In the 1970s, the group killed three U.S. officers and three civilian contractors in Iran. During the 1979-1980 hostage crisis, the group praised the decision to take America hostages and Elaine Sciolino reported that while group leaders publicly condemned the 9/11 attacks, within the group celebrations were widespread.
Undeniably, the group has conducted terrorist attacks—often excused by the MEK’s advocates because they are directed against the Iranian government. For example, in 1981, the group bombed the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Party, which was then the clerical leadership’s main political organization, killing an estimated 70 senior officials. More recently, the group has claimed credit for over a dozen mortar attacks, assassinations, and other assaults on Iranian civilian and military targets between 1998 and 2001. At the very least, to work more closely with the group (at least in an overt manner), Washington would need to remove it from the list of foreign terrorist organizations.” page 117-118 of ”Which Path to Persia?” Brookings Institution, 2009

While Attorney General Eric Holder feigns outrage over Iran’s “alleged” role in an “alleged” bombing plot, and its violation of “international norms,” it turns out that the US has been in reality, carrying out just such a campaign of armed terror on Iranian soil for years. Adding insult to injury, Eric Holder is currently under investigation for his role in running thousands of military-grade weapons over the US-Mexican border, where they were used by mass-murdering drug gangs to terrorize people across Mexico and even to kill US agents. One might wonder how many “international norms” that has violated.

That the current “alleged” plot pinned on Iran revolves around yet another undercover federal agency conducting a long-term sting operation defies belief. You couldn’t make it up. An Iranian-American paying $1.5m to Mexican drugs gangsters to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington, and all at the behest of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps back in Tehran. All we needed was a beautiful blonde to entrap the Arab and Jason Bourne to rescue him from certain death and the scenario would be complete.

But is it made up? It’s not impossible that it is true. Stranger things have happened in the netherworld of Middle East terrorism. And Iran, or at least elements in it, such as the Revolutionary Guard, has form for violence abroad. There is still the suspicion that it was Tehran who paid Libya to carry out the Lockerbie bombing in revenge for the shooting down of an Iranian arliner by the USS Vincennes in 1988.

Yet, to go around hiring Mexican hitmen to carry out a diplomatic assassination in the US capital is so hare-brained and so ridiculously amateurish that it beggars belief that a people as sophisticated as the Iranians would try it. Tehran has little time for Saudi Arabia, and vice versa, but the oil kingdom is far too rich and far too well-connected internationally to risk outright conflict with. Even during the Saudi-backed suppression of the demonstrations in Bahrain, Tehran’s government kept its distance.

Nor, at this moment, would Tehran see it in its interests to risk an open bust-up with Washington by killing the representative of its closest Arab ally on US soil. It’s not the way the Iranian government operates. It likes to tease its opponents, divide its enemies, but on the whole it avoids direct confrontation abroad. The Iranian plot the US government says aimed to murder Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Washington allegedly fell down because a member of the Mexican Zeta drug cartel hired to carry out the job for $1.5m was actually a US informant.

The informant told the Drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA) in May that he had been contacted by alleged Iranian agent Manssor Arbabsiar. They held several meetings in Mexico which were taped. Methods discussed reportedly included a targeted assassination and a bomb.

Arbabsiar flew to Mexico in late September allegedly to serve as a guarantee that full payment would follow the assassination. The Mexican government has confirmed that it denied him entry and put him on a flight with a stopover in New York, where he was arrested.

The Zetas are one of main protagonists in Mexico’s bloody drug wars, where they are fighting rival cartels and a military-led offensive. Their stronghold is the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas, just over the border from Texas. They also have a presence in Guatemala. The cartel is said to operate trafficking routes into Europe as well as the US.

The already dubious “Iranian” terror plot to assassinate a Saudi ambassador and blow up the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Washington, continues to unravel into farce with the revelation that the so called “mastermind” behind the plot is a failed used car salesman described by those who know him as a “joke”.

While The Justice Department is hyping the notion that 56-year-old Iranian-born U.S. citizen Manssor Arbabsiar was participating in a dastardly Iranian plot to kill Saudi Arabia’s U.S. ambassador, details have emerged that make the already farcical case look like a badly scripted comedy.

Local media in Austin and San Antonio spoke to several of Arbabsiar’s acquaintances in Round Rock and Corpus Christi, who described him in most unflattering terms, saying that they doubt Arbabsiar could have had any meaningful involvement in the supposed international ploy.

“He used to drink, smoke pot, go with the prostitutes,” Tom Hosseini, an Iranian who has known Arbabsiar since college, told reporters, adding “His first wife left him because he would lose his keys every other day. This guy is not a mastermind.”

Hosseini also told reporters that in college Arbabsiar earned the nickname ‘”Jack” for his affinity for whisky, confirming that he wasn’t in any way religious and that “he couldn’t even pray, doesn’t know how to fast.”

Describing Arbabsiar as rude, offensive and unfriendly, others noted that he was a “floundering” businessman who at various points had tried his hand in running a restaurant, a convenience store and a used car lot.

“He was pretty disorganised, always losing things like keys, titles, probably a thousand cell phones,” David Tomscha, who ran the small used-car yard with him, said. “He wasn’t meticulous with taking care of things.”

“He never spoke ill of the United States,” Mr Tomscha added. “I always thought he liked it here, because he could make money. He loved to make money.”

Arbabsiar, who has a history of run ins with the law and minor criminal offences, was described in other accounts as having a preoccupation with traveling to Iran in order to procure the services of cheap Persian prostitutes.

Another local acquaintance, Mitch Hamueen, scoffed at the DOJ suggestion that “Chevrolet” was a code word for the alleged terror operation.

“He probably wasn’t talking in code, he was probably talking about an actual Chevrolet,” he said.

“He’s the fall guy,” Hamueen said. “They’re looking for a fall guy.”

Reporters also spoke with Arbabsiar’s apparently estranged wife who told them “I know that his innocence is going to come out.”

The Obama administration contends that Arbabsiar tried to hire assassins from a Mexican drug gang to carry out the murder of ambassador Adel al-Jubeir during a visit to the United States.

However, the head of the drug gang turned out to be a DEA agent posing as a Mexican Los Zetas gangster. The story has all the hallmarks of classic FBI entrapment tactics that have characterized almost every major terror bust in recent times.

Nevertheless, Everyone from Hillary Clinton to John Kerry has pounced on the allegations, suggesting there is a wider conspiracy, that sanctions should be placed on Iran, and that even further action should not be ruled out.

It remains thoroughly unclear why members of the Iranian elite Quds Force would select a bumbling scatterbrained halfwit to communicate with hardcore Mexican drug gangs and carry out an assassination inside the U.S.

Despite the fact experts on Iran and its Quds force have responded with skepticism to an alleged plot and many have dismissed it as fantasy, a number of establishment politicians are demanding the Obama administration take action.

Arizona Senator John McCain lost little time exploiting the unproven plot. He told CBS today that Iran is a “threat” in the Persian Gulf and Obama is to blame for not meddling in Iran’s internal affairs and exploiting the 2009 street protests many believe were orchestrated in color revolution fashion by the CIA to overthrow the government in Tehran.

“This kind of reckless behavior they’ve displayed here could translate into a real serious problem,” said McCain, citing Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program.

Although the U.S. and Israel have tried for years to convince the world Iran is secretly working on nuclear weapons, the international community has admitted there is no evidence Iran is doing so.

Another Arizona politician, Rep. Trent Franks, used the dubious plot to attack Obama. “If this effort had been successful, it would have constituted an act of war against the United States of America, and it should demonstrate Iran’s true intentions toward America in the clearest possible terms, even to this administration,” Franks said on Wednesday. He called for a military response to the alleged assassination plot.

“If they are committed enough to try to foment an attack here, and literally try to blow up the Israeli embassy here, or kill the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the U.S., let me suggest to you that the intent is so clear that our entire focus now should be upon dealing with the capacity,” he said. “Perhaps this president would do better if he were able to focus on the threats of our nation without being so busy apologizing for American at every opportunity.”

Speaking from the House Floor Wednesday night, House Republicans said the Obama administration needs to take immediate action. “This event that has occurred should tell us a lot of things,” declared Texas Republican Ted Poe. “One, that the country of Iran is so bold that they believe they can commit a crime of terror on the soil of the United States and get away with it.”

“It is a real concern when you’re talking about 1,200 miles of border between the United States and Mexico, that someone would have a plan to invade our country and take control of those border counties,” Rep. John Carter, another Texan Republican, added. “I would call that invasion.”

Not to be left behind in the rush to exaggerate the dubious plot, Texas governor Rick Perry mentioned the imaginary plot from the campaign trail in Indiana and linked it to border security. He said the supposed plot is “business as usual” for Iran.

Establishment Tea Party diva Michele Bachmann also weighed in. “If I was president I wouldn’t have taken my eye of the number one issue in the Middle East, which is Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. The problem with the Obama administration is they put serious daylight between Israel and the United States from day one of the Obama presidency, so the president unfortunately sent signals of weakness,” Bachmann told CNN.

Republicans received support from hysterical Democrats. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California said Congress needs to investigate the supposed plot. “There may be a chain of these things,” she speculated. “I think we need to explore whether there are other plots going on into other countries.” Feinstein chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee.

As should be expected, the corporate media by and large is falling in line with the desperate effort to demonize Iran.

A Washington Post editorial today admits there is skepticism about the alleged threat and states “it is certainly prudent to reserve final judgment until all the facts of the case are known.” It then dismisses the skepticism and states “the alleged plot is not a large leap from Tehran’s past acts” and concludes whatever “the cause, the scheme’s discovery should serve as a warning of the escalating threat posed by Iran — and the need to act more forcefully against it.”

The Vancouver-based communication watchdog agency has launched three PSA-style videos online warning Canadians about a proposed bill that would allow authorities to access their private information.

Bill C-52 would allow Internet service providers to give police access as well as governments, national and international to user information, including addresses, phone numbers and information from their IP address. This information includes websites they have visited and people they have talked to online – all without a warrant.

The mainstream media is down playing this as just another PSAs by OpenMedia.ca to be satirical depictions of various situations where expectations of privacy are violated. But in reality this is something to be very concerned about.

According to OpenMedia.ca's communications manager, the videos were a way to get Canadians to discuss the bill and find out about the consequences that they will be facing if it is not taking serious.

Lindsey Pinto stated "We want to videos to encourage Canadians to stand up for online rights, engage the broader public and bring awareness."

In one of the videos, a woman answers her phone and is approached by a police officer who grabs the phone and listens in to the conversation. In another, the police officer is found in an apartment rummaging through the fridge. All the videos end with the statement, "you wouldn't let a police officer do this without a warrant."

The bill, which has been defended by Public Safety Minister Vic Toews, who's only goal is protecting American government terrorism as far as a police state goes, was proposed as a way to investigate and prevent criminal electronic communications. U.S. citizen Manssor Arbabsiar thought DEA agent worked for a Mexican drug cartel.

The Obama administration plans to use an unproven accusation leveled against Iran to mount a new international sanctions campaign and possibly attack the country.

On Tuesday, the Justice Department announced it had uncovered a plot by Iran to enlist a member of a Mexican drug cartel to kill Saudi Arabia’s envoy in Washington, D.C. The FBI and the DEA uncovered the plot, according to officials. The FBI has a long track record of using informers and agents provocateurs to entrap dupes who are then described as dangerous terrorists.

Manssor Arbabsiar, a naturalized U.S. citizen holding an Iranian passport, allegedly arranged for the assassination by contacting a man he thought worked for a Mexican drug cartel, but was in fact a DEA agent. Arbabsiar was arrested on September 29 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

“The [first] meeting, which took place in May in Mexico, was the first of a series that would result in an international conspiracy by elements of the Iranian government to pay the informant $1.5 million to murder the Ambassador on U.S. soil, according to documents we filed today in court,” said Attorney General Eric Holder. “According to the complaint, those discussions led Arbabsiar — with Shakuri’s approval – to facilitate the wiring of approximately $100,000 into a bank account in the United States as a down payment for the attempted assassination.”

Gholam Shakuri, described as Arbabsiar’s contact, has also been charged in connection with the alleged plot but remains at large.

The plot was not Arbabsiar’s idea. It was suggested by the DEA agent, who told Arbabsiar that he would need four men to carry out the assassination and that his price was $1.5 million, according to Channel 6 News.

At the State Department, Hillary Clinton praised what amounted to entrapment. “It was a terrific achievement by our law enforcement and intelligence communities, and we will be consulting with our friends and partners around the world about how we can send a very strong message that this kind of action, which violates international norms, must be ended,” she said.

The U.S. will now use the case to call for more severe sanctions against Iran. The current sanctions are considered weak and unlikely to stop Iran from continuing its nuclear energy program. China, Russia, India and Turkey have resisted more stringent sanctions that endanger business deals with Iran.

In January, Israel’s military spy agency chief Brigadier General Aviv Kochavi said the current sanctions are not working. Israel has been at the forefront of the ongoing effort to use military force against Iran under the pretext of preventing it from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The Council on Foreign Relations also considers sanctions imposed by the United Nations ineffective. It said last July that if sanctions fail the United States will have to look at using military force to stop Iran’s nuclear program.

“If this sanctions-based strategy doesn’t compel Iran to the negotiating table in a meaningful way, the United States and its allies will need to look at the other options, which include military force, containment, and fostering political change in Iran,” Meghan L. O’Sullivan of the CFR said in an interview.

At the 2010 Bilderberg meeting held in Spain, a consensus was reached about attacking Iran. “Some of them in Europe are saying no we shouldn’t do it but most of them are in favor of American air strikes on Iran,” reported Bilderberg sleuth Jim Tucker, citing his inside sources. “They’re tilting heavily towards green lighting a U.S. attack on Iran.”

The next step is to take the allegation to the United Nations and push for stronger sanctions, possibly including military action. “The United States and Saudi Arabia and other allies are discussing the possibility of taking this to the security council because this is an assault on a foreign diplomat in the U.S.,” said an unnamed diplomat, Reuters reports today.

Additionally, the State Department has issued a worldwide travel alert for U.S. citizens, warning of the potential for anti-U.S. action, Reuters reports. “The U.S. government assesses that this Iranian-backed plan to assassinate the Saudi ambassador may indicate a more aggressive focus by the Iranian government on terrorist activity against diplomats from certain countries, to include possible attacks in the United States,” it said in a statement posted on its website.

It is clear that Ahmadinejad’s address to the 66th Session of the United States General Assembly was not well met. That is a bit of an understatement, as the entirety of the United States delegation, along with Israel and EU nations, totaling over 30 countries, walked out in the middle of his speech.

He was quickly lambasted in the press for his “anti-Semitic slurs” and “conspiracy theories” but when one takes a look at his address found on the UN’s official website, it doesn’t quite measure up to this picture.

One thing that truly surprised me in his speech was his praise of global governance. If you removed these passages and attributed them to some of the greatest campaigners for a new world order, like many American Presidents and the likes of Kissinger and others, I would not find it out of character.

The passage that stands out most as being clearly pro-global governance and what I would consider strange compared to the rest of his statements is found on page 9 of the transcript of his address. It reads:
“All of us should acknowledge the fact that there is no other way than the shared and collective management of the world in order to put an end to the present disorders, tyranny, and discriminations worldwide.” [Emphasis in original]
He also praises the institution of the United Nations calling it “a great and historical achievement of mankind,” while criticizing its structure by saying that there is an “absence of justice in the current management structures and mechanisms”.

Of course these parts of his speech are being ignored by the Western media because they betray the picture of a Holocaust-denying, blood-sucking tyrant and instead paint a picture of someone who considers “the very foundation of universal human values” to be “Monotheism, justice, freedom, love and the quest for happiness.” While I think that labeling monotheism a universal human value is going a bit far, he clearly said some things which betray the image we are presented here in the West.

Before I go further in my analysis I must make it clear that I do not support Ahmadinejad or the human rights abuses attributed to him. I do not necessarily support the Iranian regime and what they stand for, either. That does not mean that I can’t rationally analyze his words, and it definitely does not mean I will go out of my way to demonize him for his statements like the rest of the mainstream media.

The Jerusalem Post reported today that the moment when many of the delegates walked out was when “he suggested that European countries use the Holocaust as a pretext for giving aid to Israel.” Interestingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, this is not quite accurate.

The point Ahmadinejad tried to make, which seems lost on the entire staff of The Jerusalem Post, is the same exact point made in Norman Finkelstein’s highly controversial work The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering.

Finkelstein argues that the tragedy of the Nazi Holocaust has been exploited for political and financial gain, as well as to silence critics of Israel’s human rights violations and illegal occupation of Palestine.

Neither Ahmadinejad nor Finkelstein argue that “European countries use the Holocaust as a pretext for giving aid to Israel.” The closest one could get to that is the point that criticism of funding Israel is stifled by bringing in the “Holocaust shmata” (shmata is Yiddish for a rag or towel) in order to silence critics.

The Jerusalem Post also fails to bring in the second half of his statement which is wholly logical. I would like to hear a real refutation of his point, if anyone can provide one to me.

Ahmadinejad said:
If some European countries still use the Holocaust, after six decades, as the excuse to pay fine or ransom to the Zionists, should it not be an obligation upon the slave masters or colonial powers to pay reparations to the affected nations?
This statement is based on relatively solid logical grounds. How can you say that Germans (and other Europeans) still have to pay reparations and pensions to Jewish people and organizations for the Holocaust while African-Americans haven’t received a penny? What about the Spanish paying reparations to the native people they displaced, raped and slaughtered? You can’t pretend to stand for social justice but only apply it to one group who has been harmed; that is ludicrous.

I’m not sure how you can demonize someone for calling for real justice and reparations for peoples and nations subjugated and mistreated, but The Jerusalem Post managed to do so.

Another point worth mentioning is that, in that statement, Ahmadinejad effectively silenced anyone who calls him a Holocaust denier. He clearly knows the Holocaust occurred and makes it clear by saying “the Holocaust” not “the alleged Holocaust” or “the alleged killing of Jewish people by Nazis during WWII”. Can we stop pretending he is denying the Holocaust now?

On that note, let’s investigate some of the claims that his speech was anti-Semitic. First we must accept the fallacious definition of anti-Semitism that includes Jewish Europeans who are in no way Semitic other than the fact that Hebrew is classified as a Semitic language. Refuting this definition would take a full-length article unto itself, so let’s just pretend that all Jewish people are Semites but not any of the other Semitic peoples throughout the Middle East.

The spokesman for the United States Mission to the United Nations, Mark Kornblau, said that Ahmadinejad “again turned to abhorrent anti-Semitic slurs and despicable conspiracy theories”.
To analyze this statement and its validity, we must make another assumption: the “official story” of 9/11 is not a conspiracy theory, even though it is a theory involving a criminal conspiracy, solely involving al Qaeda operatives, to commit an act of terror against the United States. While the official story is literally a conspiracy theory in every single way, we must toss that aside and pretend that a spade is not a spade in order to analyze Kornblau’s claims.

Since Kornblau didn’t identify a single of the apparently multiple “anti-Semitic slurs” I am forced to attempt to find “abhorrent” statements that are clearly “anti-Semitic slurs”. This isn’t quite as easy to do as one might think.

Starting on page 2 of the transcript, Ahmadinejad begins down a laundry list of wrongs carried out by the Western world, specifically America and Western European nations. Nowhere does he place responsibility on Jewish people, or even Zionists as one might assume he would.

The closest he gets to a blatant case of anti-Semitism is when he asks:
Who imposed, through deceits and hypocrisy, the Zionism [sic] and over sixty years of war, homelessness, terror and mass murder on the Palestinian people and on countries of the region?
If you read this by itself out of context you very well might think this is an “abhorrent anti-Semitic” slur. However, when you read the points both before and after, you realize that he is not talking about Jewish people but about Europeans.

The question he poses before is:
Who triggered the first and second world wars, that left seventy millions killed [sic] and hundreds of millions injured or homeless. [sic] Who created the wars in Korean peninsula [sic] and in Vietnam?
Then after the possibly anti-Semitic remark he says:
Who imposed and supported for decades the military dictatorship and totalitarian regimes on Asian, African, and Latin American nations [?]
Who used nuclear bomb [sic] against defenseless people, and stockpiled thousands of warheads in their arsenals?
Clearly he is not talking about Jewish people or Israel, or if he is he thinks that Jewish people started WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam; dictated the foreign policy decisions of America and other Western European nations; and he even thinks that Jewish people dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki while also stockpiling thousands of nuclear warheads in their secret Jewish arsenals.

Ahmadinejad might not be the brightest bulb in the world but is he really crazy enough to believe that? He very well might be but there is no indication that he was talking about Jewish people when he ran down the laundry list of questions. In fact, his target seemed to be mostly America and Western Europe, but not Israel, Zionists, or Jewish people.

I wish Kornblau was able to point to one of his “abhorrent anti-Semitic slurs” as I do not seem to be able to find them.

Ahmadinejad seems to be pointing to a nebulous group of the Western elite who control foreign and economic policy. And in all of the cases where he cites multiple governments, in order for it to be anti-Semitic one would have to say that either Ahmadinejad believes Jewish people run every government he speaks of, or indeed Jewish people run every government he speaks of. I’m not prepared to say either one of those statements is accurate.

For Kornblau’s statement regarding anti-Semitic slurs to be correct when Ahmadinejad says, “Whose economies rely on waging wars and selling arms?” he would have to actually be speaking of Jewish economies, not the economies of America the UK and other NATO countries like one would rationally assume.

Furthermore, when he says, “Which country’s military spending exceeds annually a thousand billion dollars, more than the military budgets of all countries of the world combined?” he must be speaking of America, unless Kornblau thinks that Jewish people are behind the American military-industrial complex in which case it could be construed as anti-Semitic.

Another comment that might have been seen as anti-Semitic was when he said:
They view Zionism as a sacred nation and ideology. Any question concerning its very foundation and history is condemned by them as an unforgivable sin. However they endorse and allow sacrileges and insult against beliefs of other divine religions.
Is Ahmadinejad talking about Jewish people here? He would have to be in order to claim that this is an anti-Semitic slur. Unfortunately for those who might try, not all Jewish people view Zionism as a sacred ideology, nor do all Jewish people unquestioningly support the very foundation and history of Israel.

On the other hand, the government of America arguably blindly supports Israel, and thus the Zionist ideology, along with their foundation and history, along with Israel’s right to “defend herself” even if it means hideous war crimes like the ones committed during Operation Cast Lead.

Again, where are the “abhorrent anti-Semitic slurs”? I was expecting a lot more when I finally sat down to read the text of his address, but I walked away without anything that was clearly an abhorrent anti-Semitic slur. In order to find one I would have to ignore logic, facts and maybe even what he actually said in favor of what I think (or would like to think) he said.

When it comes down to it, Ahmadinejad was not Jew-hating in his speech. He was, however, doing a lot of hating on the oppressive, evil and corrupt history of American foreign policy and European colonialism along with imperialism as a whole.

If the United States Mission to the United Nations wanted to be accurate, they might have opted for the truth instead of pretending there were “abhorrent anti-Semitic slurs” where there clearly are none to cover up the fact that they couldn’t take the heat and simply left the kitchen.

Kornblau didn’t elucidate what exactly he meant by “despicable conspiracy theories” either, but one can assume that it is Ahmadinejad’s mention of September 11th, which he has brought up in the past and is usually quickly attacked for mentioning outside of the context of blind reverence for the official American story.

Ahmadinejad said:
Last year, when the need to form a fact-finding team to undertake a thorough investigation concerning the hidden elements involved in September 11 incident [sic] was brought up; an idea also endorsed by all independent governments and nations as well as by the majority in the United States, my country and myself came under pressure and threat by the government of the United States.
Instead of assigning a fact-finding team, they killed the main perpetrator and threw his body into the sea.
Would it not have been reasonable to bring to justice and openly bring to trial the main perpetrator of the incident in order to identify the elements behind the safe space provided for the invading aircraft to attack the twin world trade towers?
Why should it not have been allowed to bring him to trial to help recognize those who launched terrorist groups and brought wars and other miseries into the region?
Is there any classified information that must be kept secret?
I think that Ahmadinejad makes some great points here which are the antithesis of conspiracy theory.

Justice and the need to identify what exactly happened on 9/11 that allowed NORAD and other defense systems to fail in every way humanly possible are not conspiracy theories. If Kornblau thinks that Justice and the right to a fair trial are conspiracy theories he clearly hasn’t read the documents upon which our nation was founded.

What are some other conspiracy theories pushed by Ahmadinejad?

He said, “They insist on imposing their lifestyle and beliefs on others.” Well, that’s not a conspiracy theory, that’s called the Bush Doctrine. No dice once again, Kornblau.

How about, “They officially support racism.” Is that a conspiracy theory? For decades, that was a legal fact in the United States. Today, it is an irrefutable fact that the state of Israel, also known as the Jewish state of Israel, is a racist state. It’s a bit hard to argue that a “Jewish only” road isn’t a policy of a racist state.

America is still a racist nation, but most of the official support for racism has withered away over recent years. However, one could argue that our official support of the racist state of Israel is officially supporting racism.

However, much of the above was not even heard by Kornblau or the other diplomats who left part-way through the speech. In fact, if The Jerusalem Post is correct in their timing of the exit, most of what one could argue as “abhorrent anti-Semitic slurs” and “despicable conspiracy theories” were brought up after they had left. The point at which The Jerusalem Post says many of the diplomats left was near the bottom of the 5th page, out of the 11 total pages of text.

So, before you take the mainstream media’s word for it and consider Ahmadinejad a rabid anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist, you might want to take a few minutes to read his words yourself.

Like me, you do not need to be a supporter to realize that he is being given an unfair treatment in the media and that some of what he has to say has merit.

One quote that I would like to close this analysis with from Ahmadinejad’s speech — one that I find especially prescient given the expansion of the imperialist crusade to Libya, Somalia and Yemen is this:
Can the flower of democracy blossom from NATO’s missiles, bombs and guns?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, has launched a stinging attack at the United Nations on the US and other major powers as militarist, imperialist and unfit to dominate global governance.

Ahmadinejad’s verbal assault on the west and Israel promoted walkouts by diplomatic delegations. US diplomats were the first to leave, when Ahmadinejad referred to the “mysterious September 11 incident” as a pretext to attack Afghanistan and Iraq.

Later, he criticised the US for killing Osama bin Laden and burying his body at sea, saying the al-Qaida leader should have been brought to trial.

Other delegations, including those from the UK and France, walked out later when the Iranian leader said that if European countries were still paying a “fine or ransom to the Zionists” because of the Holocaust, they should also pay reparations for slavery.

Al Gore teamed with Rick Perry back in '88 In a brand new ad released by the Ron Paul 2012 campaign today, Rick Perry’s intimate ties to Al Gore’s presidential campaign are laid bare, as Paul exposes the fact to GOP voters that the current frontrunner is anything but a real conservative.

The 60 second spot, which will air as part of a six-figure ad buy in New Hampshire and Iowa, is entitled simply “Trust”.

The video highlights how Paul was one of only four Republican Congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign.

“The establishment called him extreme and unelectable, they said he was the wrong man for the job.” the ad begins.

“After Reagan, Sen. Al Gore ran for president pledging to raise taxes and increase spending,” the ad states. “Rick Perry helped lead Al Gore’s campaign to undo the Reagan revolution.”

“Now America must decide who to trust, Al Gore’s Texas cheerleader or the one who stood with Reagan – Ron Paul.” the spot concludes.

The ad continues the Hollywood blockbuster theme used in Paul’s previous two ads, both of which quickly became viral internet hits earlier this Summer.

The Paul campaign has stated that they hope to place the spot on TV during Wednesday’s GOP presidential debate that airs on MSNBC.

Back in 1988, Rick Perry supported Al Gore for president. In fact, Perry actually served as Al Gore’s campaign chairman in the state of Texas that year.

When Perry entered the 2012 race just a few weeks ago, he immediately began parroting Ron Paul’s fiscal conservative and anti-big government values.

Unlike Congressman Ron Paul, however, Perry cannot possibly paint himself up as a fiscally responsible anti-establishment candidate.

Under Perry’s governorship, Texas soaked up $22 billion in stimulus money from the federal government’s bailout package.

During his 11 year tenure, Texas has run up a $13.4 billion deficit, which is 31.5% of the 2011 budget. The Lone Star state has the 3rd highest deficit in the entire country behind only California and Illinois.

Perry’s rhetoric simply does not dovetail with his record.

Ron Paul, on the other hand sits on the Joint Economic Committee, the House Committee on Financial Services, and is Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy. Paul has held a steadfast position on fiscal responsibility for over thirty years and has a voting record to match.

20 plus years ago, back when Perry was expending all his energy promoting Al Gore, Ron Paul was warning the country of the Federal Reserve takeover and the inevitable economic crises that would result.

During an appearance on the Alex Jones Show last week, Ron Paul described Perry as a “flip-flopper”, pointing out that the Texas Governor had also strongly supported the ill fated Hillarycare in 1993.

Anyone with half a brain can clearly see that Perry, the template of a career politician, a man who has flip flopped not only between issues, but even between the two parties, is not going to bring economic prosperity back to the country. The only candidate who has the will to do so and the record to back it up is Ron Paul.

“Congressman Paul has an unparalleled record of championing true conservative principles,” said Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton in a statement. “Dr. Paul’s ideas of limited Constitutional government, sound money and balanced budgets have won the day.”

The hackers’ collective Anonymous may have obtained “literally explosive” information concerning Bohemian Grove, an annual gathering of power brokers from the US and Europe set to meet this week in California, which many see as a nefarious avenue through which elitists secretly manipulate world affairs.

Bohemian Grove is a privately owned 2,700 acre compound in Monte Rio, California surrounded by giant old-growth redwood trees. Once a year it plays host to a bizarre confab attended by some of the most powerful people in the world, including many US politicians and government officials, during which participants embroil themselves in a heady mixture of plutocratic plotting and occult pagan ritual ceremonies.

The Anonymous hacking group, which has already announced its intention to occupy the entrance to the Bohemian Grove compound as a protest against the group’s secrecy, may also be about to leak a whole treasure trove of information about the organization as part of what has been dubbed “the biggest day in Anonymous’s history”.

As part of a series of hacks conducted to protest the treatment of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, to whom Anonymous has attached itself, the collective says it is about to unleash “literally explosive” material on a number of organizations, including the London Metropolitan Police and other agencies connected to the UK judicial system.

The hacks are timed to coincide with Assange’s appeal hearing against extradition, which begins today.

According to a report in the Guardian, one of the targets of the hacks could well be the Bohemian Grove club.

“Speculation centres around material claimed to have been obtained last week from contractors relating to security and secrecy of “former world leaders”, or plans to target a senior leaders’ retreat at Bohemian Grove, California,” write the Guardian’s James Ball and Charles Arthur.

Any such leak would be devastating for Bohemian Grove organizers, and could even disrupt activities at the encampment planned for the next fortnight.

Former Secretaries of State George Shultz and James Baker are set to give lakeside talks at the event this year, which begins Friday and runs for the next two weeks. But the details of what they say will not be covered by any media outlet, the meeting is secret and any uninvited guests are hastily dealt with by security guards and police.

Alex Jones made history in 2000 when he became the first journalist to capture on video the ‘cremation of care’ ceremony, where Grove members dressed in Eyes Wide Shut-style hooded capes make a mock child sacrifice to Moloch, the pagan owl god, represented as a 50 foot statue carved out of a hollowed redwood tree.

Although Matt Oggero, the club’s general manager, told the Press Democrat this week that Bohemian Grove is merely “a group of guys out in the woods having a good time,” Presidents Nixon and Reagan both attended the elitist get-together before they captured the Oval Office. George W. Bush was also introduced to Grove power brokers in 1995 by his father five years before becoming President.

Nixon infamously later described the encampment as the “most faggy goddamned thing you could ever imagine,” perhaps in reference to the fact that male prostitutes and porn stars are routinely transported to the facility to “serve the moguls,” as the New York Post reported in 2004. Few women are allowed to work at the camp and those that do are prevented from accessing many areas of the site. Young men of high school and college age make up most of the temporary employees hired by Grove organizers.

A Bohemian Grove insider has gone public to reveal that the secretive gathering of power brokers set to begin this week in Monte Rio, California is far more serious than the ‘summer holiday camp’ tag routinely attached to the powwow by the establishment media, noting how members “constantly” discuss business and politics.

The mainstream press has habitually treated Bohemian Grove in a similar manner to their coverage of the annual Bilderberg meetings, dismissing the confabs as little more than informal chats interspersed with leisure activities, despite the fact that, like Bilderberg, Bohemian Grove has been the birthplace of some of the most momentous developments in modern history. Like Bilderberg, it is also used to groom future leaders and Presidents.

In 1942 Bohemian Grove was the setting for the birthplace of the Manhattan Project, which led to the creation of the atomic bomb, a story often retold by Grove members who are proud of the fact that the most important scientific development of the 20th century was conceived there.

The Strategic Defense Initiative, Star Wars, was also the brainchild of Grove members and was first introduced during a lakeside talk in the early 80′s, before Ronald Reagan publicly proposed the program in March 1983.

Despite two of the most monumental scientific developments of the 20th century being born at the Grove, the establishment media still largely peddles the myth that the annual event is nothing more than a casual carnival for rich revelers.

However, new disclosures by a former Bohemian Grove attendee blow that fable out of the water.

In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle’s Debra J. Saunders, Sonoma State sociology Professor Peter Phillips, who attended the confab in 1994, said that the elitist encampment was a forum for “very important people” to discuss “intimate issues”.

Philips made it clear that networking and making deals was a key component of Grove activity.

“They’re very clearly talking politics and business constantly,” he told Saunders, completely contradicting the Bohemian Club’s claim that “weaving spiders come not here,” a reference to the notion that members talking shop is severely frowned upon.

“I proved the opposite, quite clearly,” said Philips. “I heard conversations about business. ‘If GE comes in on the deal, we can get the Japanese to join’ – three men walking down a trail together.”

The fact that Bohemian Grove is perhaps the ultimate ‘secret room’, in which world and domestic policy is agreed upon in amidst bizarre environment of drunken frivolity, alleged homosexual prostitution, and occult pagan ceremonies should be of utmost concern to any thinking person.

Just like Bilderberg, Bohemian Grove is antithetical to the notion that politicians are supposed to represent the American people who elect them, and instead underscores the fact that policy is being conceived behind closed-doors in a completely secretive, nefarious and undemocratic manner.

According to CNN, the government considers “arrogant complaining” about TSA Gestapo tactics at the nation’s airports to be an indication of terrorist behavior.

Objecting to TSA goons molesting your six year old daughter is characterized as “contempt against airport passenger procedures” and will likely get you profiled as a “high risk” passenger and probably a terrorist.

Race, religion or ethnicity are not considered a “behavioral indicator,” according to the government, even though terrorists supposedly acting on September 11, 2011, were Muslims, or so the government concluded after conducting a shoddy investigation, even though several members of the 9/11 Commission suspected deception on part of the Pentagon and consider its final report highly flawed.

“Expressing your contempt about airport procedures — that’s a First Amendment-protected right,” Michael German, a former FBI agent who now works as legal counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, told CNN. “We all have the right to express our views, and particularly in a situation where the government is demanding the ability to search you.”

TSA procedures also violate the Fourth Amendment and the sexual molestation laws of a number of states, but that has not stopped the feds from treating airline passengers as criminals to be searched at random or after they complain.

“The TSA says its security programs are informed by real-world situations and intelligence. Indeed, the immigration agent who refused to let the alleged ’20th hijacker’ into the United States in 2001 later testified that the man’s arrogant behavior contributed to his suspicions,” notes CNN.

CNN describes Mohammed al-Qahtani as the 2oth hijacker. Zacarias Moussaoui is also pegged as the 20th hijacker.

The FBI actively blocked an investigation of Moussaoui a month before the September 11, 2001, attacks. FBI agent Harry Samit blamed FBI headquarters for having “obstructed” the Moussaoui probe, which the government later portrayed as a lost opportunity to uncover information about the attacks.

Arrogant complaining about airport security is one indicator Transportation Security Administration officers consider when looking for possible criminals and terrorists, CNN has learned exclusively. And, when combined with other behavioral indicators, it could result in a traveler facing additional scrutiny.
CNN has obtained a list of roughly 70 “behavioral indicators” that TSA behavior detection officers use to identify potentially “high risk” passengers at the nation’s airports.
Many of the indicators, as characterized in open government reports, are behaviors and appearances that may be indicative of stress, fear or deception. None of them, as the TSA has long said, refer to or suggest race, religion or ethnicity.

In a letter to TSA head John Pistole this week, Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah described the treatment of six year old Anna Drexel at the hands of a TSA officer in New Orleans as a “shocking violation” of TSA protocol.

In a video that quickly went viral on the internet, the confused and tearful young girl was subject to an enhanced pat down, which included an officer putting her hands inside the child’s pants.

Chaffetz, who is the chairman of an Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee that watches over the TSA, introduced the bill on Wednesday, noting “I am personally outraged and disgusted by yet another example of mistreatment of an innocent American at the hands of TSA.”

“This conduct is in clear violation of TSA’s explicit policy not to conduct thorough pat-downs on children under the age of 13.” Chaffetz added.

The Congressman also spoke of a recent incident involving his own children and the TSA, describing how his wife and two daughters were separated and given enhanced pat downs after refusing to go through radiation firing naked body scanners when flying to Utah from Washington.

“I am so furious with them I can’t even see straight,” Chaffetz said Thursday. “They should not be taking minors by themselves for pat downs.”

“The agency must get serious about the manner in which it seeks to balance national security with personal privacy,” Chaffetz wrote to Pistole. “At the very least, it cannot continue to operate under the belief that little girls and handicapped children pose such a serious threat that [agents] must abandon all manner of decency when interacting with them.”

Chaffetz has consistently railed against the TSA takeover throughout the nation’s airports.

Last year he oversaw the passage in the House of an amendment to ban “strip-search” imaging at airports altogether.

“You don’t have to look at my wife and 8-year-old daughter naked to secure an airplane,” Chaffetz said at the time.

“You can actually see the sweat on somebody’s back. You can tell the difference between a dime and a nickel. If they can do that, they can see things that quite frankly I don’t think they should be looking at in order to secure a plane,” Chaffetz told the House.

The Congressman has also labeled the TSA’s delay in releasing safety reports on the machines as “inexcusable”.

Following the emergence of a video of a TSA agent subjecting a scared and confused 6-year old girl to an invasive full body pat down this week, another incident has come to light today in which an 8-year old boy was recently groped in the same way. This despite the fact that the TSA claimed it had changed its security procedure for children.

Young Spencer Sheahan was looking forward to the trip of a lifetime to Disneyland, but the fun was cut short at Portland International Airport in Oregon when a TSA agent pulled the child out of line and frisked him up and down in front of his stunned mother.

“They went up his leg, into that area, down the next leg, up here (chest), felt all over,” Heather Sheahan tells KGW News.

Ms Shehan quickly grabbed her camera and took photos to document the incident.

“I was confused,” Spencer told the reporter. “I did not know what they were going to do to me.”

The boy’s reaction to the incident was almost identical to that of 6-year old Anna Drexel who was groped on video by an agent at New Orleans International airport.

Both children thought they had done something wrong and were being punished. Little Anna broke down in tears afterwards, according to her mother, who said she found it impossible to adequately explain to her daughter why the incident had occurred.

Without much fanfare and overshadowed by Canadians heading to the polls on May 2 for the fourth election in seven years, a controversial bill that would further comply with U.S. aviation security practices became law. The measure supports plans for a North American security perimeter and illustrates how the Canadian government is more interested in appeasing U.S. interests than protecting the privacy and freedoms of its own citizens.

In November of 2007, the Conservative government expressed concerns over privacy implications associated with the U.S. Secure Flight Program and filed objections with the Department of Homeland Security. They were urging an exemption on a measure that would require Canadian airlines to turn over information on passengers flying over the U.S. en route to other destinations. Despite their grievances being dismissed, they eventually caved in to U.S. demands. In a move to further bring Canada in line with American air travel security rules, Bill C-42, An Act to amend the Aeronautics Act was introduced in Parliament on June 17 of last year. With little media attention, it passed through the House of Commons on March 2, 2011, by a vote of 246 to 34. On March 23, it received royal assent and became law. Under Bill C-42, Canadian airlines are required to send traveler information through the Secure Flight Program 72 hours before departure. The Transportation Security Administration checks the data against security watch lists which could result in passengers receiving extra screening or even being barred from boarding their flight.

In an Action Alert from December 2010, the Council of Canadians described how Bill C-42, “requires that a large amount of your personal information be transmitted to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security even if your flight only passes through U.S. airspace. It’s not just name, gender, age and destination as government sources claim. Any and all information contained in your travel records will be transmitted to U.S. security officials, who may use it for whatever purposes they see fit.” It goes on to say, “Canada has made many steps to harmonize airline security with U.S. programs but none has been good enough to prevent ever more draconian demands. Our severely flawed made-in-Canada ‘no fly’ list was supposed to prevent the imposition of the U.S. list on Canada. But the benchmark has moved again to the point the U.S. must issue travel permissions to Canadians.” The Conservative government has failed to sufficiently safeguard the privacy of Canadians. Personal information collected could be used for immigration, as well as law enforcement purposes and could also be shared with other countries. Bill C-42 surrenders Canadian authority to the Department of Homeland Security.

Initially, the Liberal party criticized the government for introducing Bill C-42 and accused them of abandoning Canadian sovereignty. In an NDP press release issued before the crucial vote on the bill was held, they slammed the Liberals for now supporting it. They also questioned whether the Liberals could be trusted to defend privacy concerns associated with the proposed Canada-U.S. Beyond the Border trade and security deal. Stuart Trew of the Council of Canadians acknowledged, “It was disturbing to see the Liberals so willing to vote in favour of C-42 when it is clearly wrapped up in Harper’s perimeter security plan with the U.S., which they have challenged as too secretive and in need of more debate.” He also added, “The ease with which the federal government handed over sovereignty on this critical security policy does not bode well for the perimeter security talks with President Obama.” Bill C-42 is a key component of the North American security perimeter. It is another example of how Canada is being further pressured adopt U.S. security standards. In many cases, the Department of Homeland Security will now have the final say on who is allowed to travel to and from Canada.

In February of this year, a British man who was travelling with his family from Toronto back to England, was denied permission to board a plane because his name was on the U.S. no-fly list. After being stranded for several days, the British Embassy intervened and Dawood Hepplewhite was allowed to fly to Glasgow, Scotland. At the time, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) pointed out, “Bill C-42 hasn’t yet passed, but if aircraft carriers are providing passenger information to U.S. Secure Flight for overflights, then it would seem the aircraft carriers may be acting as if Bill C-42 is already law.” There are still questions as to why Hepplewhite’s name was on the no-fly list, but he suspects it is because he is a white Muslim and once applied to work in Yemen. The CCLA has concerns about the no-fly list’s fairness and explained, “if a person believes they were wrongfully placed on the U.S. No Fly List, it is apparently very difficult to find out why they were placed on the list, and difficult to get their name off of the list.” As a result of the war on terrorism, the U.S. now has more control over air travel and is not only dictating North American, but also international security practices.

Increasingly, U.S. Department of Homeland Security requirements are being imposed on Canadians. There are real concerns on how civil liberties are being eroded by these new security measures. Canada has further surrendered privacy and sovereignty when it comes to air travel. In a fully integrated North American security perimeter, the U.S. would have the ultimate power to decide who is allowed to enter and who is allowed to leave.

“The worst case scenario is that the fuel rods fuse together, the temperatures get so hot that they melt together in a radioactive molten mass that bursts through the containment mechanisms and is exposed to the outside. So they spew radioactivity in the ground, into the air, into the water. Some of the radioactivity could carry in the atmosphere to the West Coast of the United States,” Cirincione told Fox News.

When host Chris Wallace questioned whether radioactivity could travel thousands of miles across the Pacific, Cirincione responded, “Oh, absolutely. Chernobyl, which happened about 25 years ago, the radioactivity spread around the entire northern hemisphere. It depends how many of these cores melt down and how successful they are on containing it once this disaster happens.”

“One reactor has had half the core exposed already,” explained Cirincione. “This is the one they’re flooding with sea water in a desperate effort to prevent it from a complete meltdown. They lost control of a second reactor next to it, a partial meltdown, and there is actually a third reactor at a related site 20-kilometers away they have also lost control over. We have never had a situation like this before.”

Fears that the radiation could reach the United States have prompted the California Department of Public Health to issue a statement saying they are assessing the situation and that they have radioactivity monitoring systems in place for air, water and the food supply.

As the Washington Blog has documented, pollution from Chinese coal factories routinely hits California.

But it’s not just the west coast that could be affected. According to Yoichi Shimatsu, former editor of the Japan Times, “In the event of a major meltdown and continuous large-volume radioactive release, airborne particles will be carried across the ocean in bands that will cross over the southern halves of Oregon, Montana and Idaho, all of California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, the Dakotas, northern Nebraska and Iowa and ending in Wisconsin and Illinois, with possible further eastward drift depending on surface wind direction.”

Shimatsu now states that after a high-level government meeting, “Japanese agencies are no longer releasing independent reports without prior approval from the top,” and that censorship of what is really occurring at the plant is being overseen under the Article 15 Emergency Law.

Following dramatic footage of another blast, this time affecting Fukushima Daiichi’s reactor 3, which shot plumes of smoke high into the air, officials from the Tokyo Electric Power Co. have conceded that fuel rods at the facility’s reactor number 2 have been fully exposed, threatening a complete meltdown.

The Pentagon has also confirmed that radiation particles were detected by helicopters flying 160km (100 miles) away from the nuclear plant, suggesting widespread environmental contamination. The discovery of the two radioactive isotopes, cesium-137 and iodine-121, can only mean one thing, according to the Seattle Times: “One or more of the reactor cores is badly damaged and at least partially melted down.”

“If true, this also means that the Japanese government is blatantly lying to its people and the world, in its relentless determination to prevent panic and to pursue the party line that after two massive blasts the cores are still stable,” writes Tyler Durden. “And judging by the time stamp, this was announced before last night’s second blast: if radioactivity had spread then, how about now? And who can blame Americans and people around the world who are concerned that radiation may be coming their way if nobody is to be trusted.”

Reports are also circulating that sailors on the USS Ronald Reagan were exposed to radiation doses equivalent to a month’s worth in one hour when they sailed into a radiation cloud off the coast of Japan.

All the evidence clearly indicates that the Japanese government is covering up the true scale of the disaster in an effort to prevent hysteria from engulfing a population already devastated by last week’s earthquake and tsunami, not to mention ongoing powerful aftershocks that continue to spread terror.

The report referred to the Fukushima Daiichi complex’s No.2 reactor, where levels of water coolant around the reactor core had been reported as falling earlier in the day.

The Jiji report said a meltdown of the fuel rods could not be ruled out. A meltdown raises the risk of damage to the reactor vessel and a possible radioactive leak, experts say.

Japanese reactor operators now have little choice but to periodically release radioactive steam until the radioactive elements in the fuel of the stricken reactors stop generating intense heat, a process that can continue for a year or more even after fission has stopped.
In the best case, operators will pump enough seawater and other coolants to squelch overheating. Such a success would prevent further releases of radiation beyond the unknown amount spewed into the air by controlled venting and the explosion of a reactor containment building.
In such a scenario, the only casualties would probably be the handful of plant workers reported Sunday to be suffering from acute radiation sickness.
If the last-ditch efforts to cool the reactors fail, the heavy cylindrical cores — each containing tons of radioactive fuel — could flare to hotter than 4,000 degrees and melt through the layers of steel and cement engineered to contain them.
Such a meltdown may be under way, said Arnie Gundersen, chief engineer at the consulting firm Fairewinds Associates. Gundersen helps oversee the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant, whose reactors are the same vintage and design as those of the stricken Japanese reactor.
If a full meltdown occurs, a huge molten lump of radioactive material would burn through all containment, destroy the building and fall to the ground, exposed. A toxic stew of exotic radioactive particles would then spread on the wind and rain.
And keeping the news going is the update from NHK that at least 11 people have died in the second blast reported earlier:
At least eleven people died in a second explosion at the Fukushima nuclear plant in north-eastern Japan on Monday, NHK TV said.
The build-up of hydrogen caused reactor no. 3 to explode at around 02:00 GMT but the government’s top spokesman, Yukio Edano, said its core was still intact. He said there was a “low possibility” of a rise in radiation levels near the damaged plant.
A blast occurred in the plant’s reactor no. 1 on Saturday.
The plant’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co., told the TV station that the cooling system at reactor no. 2 has failed.

The US Pentagon was expected to announce that US sailors on the USS Ronald Reagan, an aircraft carrier, were exposed to radiation when the carrier sailed into a radioactive cloud off the coast of Japan, according to a New York Times report.

US government officials told the NY Times that sailors and other military personnel onboard were exposed to a month’s worth of radiation in an hour’s time. They added that US helicopters flying humanitarian missions some 60 miles north of damaged Japanese reactors were coated with particulate radiation. Theaircraft were washed off.

Despite the scare, officials said there was no indication that any of the military personnel experienced ill effects from the exposure, comparing it to “natural background radiation” that all people are exposed to daily.

A second hydrogen explosion rocked a stricken nuclear power plant in Japan where authorities have been scrambling to avert a meltdown after last week’s devastating earthquake and tsunami.

Because of the fear that the radiation from the Japanese nuclear meltdowns will hit the Western United states (see this and this), potassium iodide has sold out in most health food and supplement stores in many California, Oregon and Washington locations.

People know that it’s good to take potassium iodide to protect against radiation, to help protect against thyroid cancer (potassium iodide does not protect any other organs).

But taking potassium iodide when there is no radiation can actually damage the thyroid gland … at least in some individuals. A doctor told me that potassium iodide is given to people with hyperthyroid disease in order to partially kill the thyroid – i.e. to lower thyroid function.

Indeed, the New York Times notes:

Experts in Japan and the United States say the country is now facing a cascade of accumulating problems that suggest that radioactive releases of steam from the crippled plants could go on for weeks or even months.
You can’t take potassium iodide for months on end.
Ideally, buy potassium iodide now, and monitor radiation levels by looking at real-time monitoring networks such as this and this. Don’t take iodide unless and until elevated radiation levels hit your area.
Whatever you do, don’t take more than the recommended dosage. The Centers for Disease Control and the FDA recommend:
130 milligrams for adults
65 milligrams for children
Each 24 hours that one is exposed to radiation.

A large scale cover-up of the extent and severity of Japan’s multiple nuclear meltdowns is now underway, according to Yoichi Shimatsu, the former editor of the Japan Times Weekly. Mr. Shimatsu appeared on CCTV, China’s state-run television network.

“Following a high-level meeting called by the lame-duck prime minister, Japanese agencies are no longer releasing independent reports without prior approval from the top,” writes Shimatsu. “The censorship is being carried out following the imposition of the Article 15 Emergency Law.”

Shimatsu contends that the Obama White House sent a team to consult the Naoto Kan government. Instead of dispatching experts from the Department of Energy, Nuclear Safety Agency and Health Department, representatives of USAID were sent to micromanage the cover-up.

Since the 1960s, USAID – short for United States Agency for International Development – has maintained a close working relationship with the CIA, and Agency officers often operated abroad under USAID cover, according to author William Blum (Killing hope: U.S. military and CIA interventions since World War II, p. 142, 200, 234). The close relationship between USAID and the CIA is also documented in the long-suppressed “family jewels” documents (see pages 607 to 613).

The CIA and the spooks are naturally concerned about their foothold on the Misawa Air Force Base in the Iwate Prefecture, hard hit by the earthquake. “Misawa, the hub of US electronic warfare and high-tech espionage in East Asia with its fleet of P-3 Orions and an ECHELON eavesdropping antennae,” Shimatsu notes.

In addition, the establishment is worried about geopolitical aspects of the crisis, most notably in regard to regional “enemies” Pyongyang, Beijing and Moscow. Both China and Russia have both offered aid without strings attached and this is undoubtedly considered a threat by the political establishment in the United States.

The Pentagon also has a vested interest in stage managing information emerging from Japan. In addition to its sprawling military bases in the country since the end of the Second World War, one of the military industrial complex’s major players, Westinghouse, runs a nuclear fuel operation at Tokai in the Ibaraki prefecture.

Westinghouse took control of Japan’s Nuclear Fuel Industries Ltd — the country’s sole producer of fuel for both boiling-water reactors and pressurized-water reactors — in 2009.

The CIA, through USAID, is running a disinfo campaign on Japan’s earthquake crippled nuclear facilities for geopolitical reasons. The Japanese people will ultimately suffer, as will millions of other people who happen to be downwind from the stricken plants.

TOKYO: Japan's struggle to contain the crisis at a stricken nuclear power plant worsened sharply early on Tuesday morning, as emergency operations to pump seawater into one crippled reactor failed at least temporarily, increasing the risk of an uncontrolled release of radioactive material, officials said.

With the cooling systems malfunctioning simultaneously at three separate reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station after the powerful earthquake and tsunami, the acute crisis developed late Monday at reactor No. 2 of the plant, where a series of problems thwarted efforts to keep the core of the reactor covered with water — a step considered crucial to preventing the reactor's containment vessel from exploding and preventing the fuel inside it from melting down. The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power, said late Monday that repeated efforts to inject seawater into the reactor had failed, causing water levels inside the reactor's containment vessel to fall and exposing its fuel rods. After what at first appeared to be a successful bid to refill the vessel, water levels again dwindled, this time to critical levels, exposing the rods almost completely, company executives said. Workers were having difficulty injecting seawater into the reactor because its vents — necessary to release pressure in the containment vessel by allowing radioactive steam to escape — had stopped working properly, they said. The more time that passes with fuel rods uncovered by water and the pressure inside the containment vessel unvented, the greater the risk that the containment vessel will crack or explode, creating a potentially catastrophic release of radioactive material into the atmosphere — an accident that would be by far the worst to confront the nuclear power industry since the explosion of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant 25 years ago.

In reactor No. 2, which is now the most damaged of the three at the Daiichi plant, at least parts of the fuel rods have been exposed for several hours, which also suggests that some of the fuel has begun to melt. If more of the fuel melts before water can be injected in the vessel, the fuel pellets could burn through the bottom of the containment vessel and radioactive material could pour out that way — often referred to as a full meltdown. "They're basically in a full-scale panic" among Japanese power industry managers, said a senior nuclear industry executive late Monday night. The executive is not involved in managing the response to the reactors' difficulties but has many contacts in Japan. "They're in total disarray, they don't know what to do."

The extreme challenge of managing reactor No. 2 came as officials were still struggling to keep the cores of two other reactors, No. 1 and No. 3, covered with seawater. There was no immediate indication that either of those two reactors had experienced a crisis as serious as that at No. 2. But part of the outer structure housing reactor No. 3 exploded earlier on Monday, as did the structure surrounding reactor No. 1 on Saturday. Live footage on public broadcaster NHK showed the skeletal remains of the reactor building and thick smoke rising from the building. Eleven people had been injured in the blast, one seriously, officials said.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said earlier Monday that the release of large amounts of radiation as a result of the explosion was unlikely. But traces of radiation could be released into the atmosphere, and about 500 people who remained within a 12-mile radius were ordered temporarily to take cover indoors, he said. Mr. Edano and other senior officials did not immediately address the threat of radioactive release from reactor No. 2. The country's nuclear power watchdog said readings taken soon after the explosion showed no big change in radiation levels around the plant or any damage to the steel containment vessel, which protects the radioactive material in the reactor.

"I have received reports that the containment vessel is sound," Mr. Edano said. "I understand that there is little possibility that radioactive materials are being released in large amounts." In screenings, higher-than-normal levels of radiation have been detected from at least 22 people evacuated from near the plant, the nuclear safety watchdog said, but it is not clear if the doses they received were dangerous. Technicians had been scrambling most of Sunday to fix a mechanical failure that left the reactor far more vulnerable to explosions. The two reactors where the explosions occurred are both presumed to have already suffered partial meltdowns — a dangerous situation that, if unchecked, could lead to a full meltdown.

Given the fact that many analysts believe the Japanese government is grossly understating the amount of radioactive particles released by the two separate explosions to affect the Fukushima plant, one which occurred Saturday and one earlier today, monitoring stations in Alaska will not know if there is a threat from such radiation until Saturday at the earliest.

An Accuweather.com analysis highlights how prevailing wind trajectories would take the radiation from a westerly direction towards the west coast of the United States.

“A typical wind trajectory across the Pacific is westerly, since there is often a large dome of high pressure over the central Pacific and an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska,” writes meteorologist Meghan Evans.

Today’s localized winds are set to carry any radiation out into the Pacific from a north westerly to south easterly direction. However, “The wind direction will switch to an onshore direction Monday night into Tuesday, threatening to send the radiation toward the population,” writes Evans

“This is not good news, since an onshore direction would blow most of the radiation toward populated areas. An added threat is that with higher elevations just about 4 miles inland from the power plants, if a temperature inversion sets up in the atmosphere, radiation could be trapped.”

The worst case scenario is that localized winds could take the fallout south to Tokyo, and the prevailing westerly winds could also carry upper atmosphere particles towards the U.S.

It would take roughly seven days for the radiation to reach Anchorage, eight days until it reached Honolulu, ten days for Seattle and eleven days before it hit Los Angeles, according to figures calculated by Expert Senior Global Meteorologist Jim Andrews.

Assurances from officials that any radiation would dissipate over the Pacific Ocean before reaching the United States are tenuous given the fact that pollution from Chinese coal factories, traveling significantly greater distances, routinely hits California.

“Previous studies have documented that dust from Asia — especially from deserts and industrial regions of China — routinely crosses the Pacific Ocean on prevailing winds to sully the air over the western U.S.,” highlights Massie Santos Ballon, a student in the Science Communication Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has also studied how, “About a third of the airborne lead particles recently collected at two sites in the San Francisco Bay Area came from Asia.”

Weather conditions will hugely influence where any potential radiation falls. If there is a significant amount of rainfall, which has been forecast for the next few days, the majority of the radiation will fall in a localized area. However, drier conditions will allow any radiation to travel much further.

As we featured in our earlier report, nuclear expert Joe Cirincione also fears that radiation from the Japanese nuclear plant could also reach the west coast.

When Fox News host Chris Wallace questioned whether radioactivity could travel thousands of miles across the Pacific, Cirincione responded, “Oh, absolutely. Chernobyl, which happened about 25 years ago, the radioactivity spread around the entire northern hemisphere. It depends how many of these cores melt down and how successful they are on containing it once this disaster happens.”

Concern surrounding the likely path of any radiation is emphasized by the fact that the French embassy is now, “Advising its citizens to leave Tokyo and its surroundings in case a cloud of radiation heads to the city.”

The corporate media is almost unanimous in its appraisal of the nuclear crisis unfolding in Japan – the meltdown of multiple nuclear reactors will not result in a Chernobyl-style disaster.

Japanese government: We’re in control, nothing to worry about here, now move along.

According to the Japanese government, the explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi No. 3 reactor is not much to worry about. Officials said the inner reactor container remained intact, but this information should be taken with a large grain of salt – the Japanese government has a fairly extensive track record of covering up its nuclear accidents and mishaps.

In 2003 alone, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) shut down 17 plants because the company had falsified records pertaining to a series accidents that pale in comparison to what is now unfolding at Fukushima and other nuclear power plants in the country.

TEPCO is the largest electric utility in Japan and the 4th largest electric utility in the world.

“The nuclear power plant failures and explosions near Fukushima, Japan are an excellent case example of the failure of government. Here, the Japanese government has been horribly derelict before, during and after this incident,” writes Mike Rogers from Tokyo. “I am not talking about just the Japanese government here. I am talking about all governments. All governments lie all the time. It is the nature of government to do so.”

A former nuclear power plant designer said Japan is facing an extremely grave crisis and called on the government to release more information, which he said was being suppressed, the BBC reported yesterday. He accused the government of deliberately withholding vital information that would allow outside experts help solve the problems.

Masashi Goto told a news conference in Tokyo that one of the reactors at the Fukushima-Daiichi plant was “highly unstable” and that if there was a meltdown the “consequences would be tremendous.” Mr. Goto made his comments prior to the explosion of a second reactor at the Fukushima plant earlier today.

Goto said that the failure now unfolding at Fukushima represents “many Chernobyls.” He said further explosions will spread radioactive material over a very wide area, well beyond the 20 kilometer evacuation zone set up by the authorities over the weekend.

The single Chernobyl event that began on April 26, 1986, released as much as 300 times the lethal radioactive fallout of the Hiroshima bomb, according to the Hiroshima Internaltiona Council for Health Care of the Radiation-exposed. Radiation had been released for 10 days and scattered in different directions as the wind shifted. Cecium-137, strontium-90, iodine-131, and plutonium were the major radiation source for the contamination. Millions of people in the Soviet Union and Europe were exposed.

Gotto’s “many Chernobyls” scenario is now playing out in Japan and the government is covering it up. If the situation is not contained in record time, the above figures taken after Chernobyl will be dwarfed.

The Soviet military followed the same disastrous course the Japanese government is now following – a massive cover-up of the scope and severity of the crisis, including wide-scale falsification of medical histories, the disappearance of people’s records so the state would not have to compensate them, and the wholesale looting of evacuated houses and abandoned churches (see John Vidal’s article about Chernobyl, Hell on Earth).

“This is a terrible situation indeed, but there is a very important lesson in life for all of us in this mess,” concludes Mike Rogers from his perch in Tokyo. “I believe that this is a lesson that is teaching us personal responsibility and it is also teaching us to have a healthy skepticism of the state and its proclamations.”

All the nuclear reactors at the earthquake stricken Fukushima nuclear plant are under threat of melting down and exploding in a chain reaction that will signify the world’s worst ever nuclear disaster and send clouds of radioactive particles hurtling towards the United States – that’s the scale of the crisis facing Japan as officials admit for the first time that three nuclear reactors are already in a meltdown.

While the mainstream media continues to argue over the definition of a “meltdown” while unquestionably regurgitating the dubious claim of Japanese officials that the two massive explosions witnessed at the plant were caused by pressurized hydrogen, radioactive isotopes cesium-137 and iodine-121 have been detected by helicopters flying 160km (100 miles) away from the nuclear plant, which can only mean one thing, according to the Seattle Times: “One or more of the reactor cores is badly damaged and at least partially melted down.”

After claiming for three days that the explosions did not damage reactor cores and downplaying the severity of the situation, Japanese officials have now been forced to admit the obvious, that nuclear fuel rods in three reactors are melting. Given the sequence of events, it is entirely probable that all six reactor sites will now go into total meltdown and start spewing radioactive particles into the atmosphere that threaten not only Japanese citizens but also those living on the west coast of the United States.

The two explosions have already compromised the surrounding facilities. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from a 20-km exclusion zone around the plant which keeps growing. Latest reports suggest that the exclusion zone is already at 50km and expanding. Casualties in the immediate vicinity of the nuclear facilities are likely to be far higher than reported.

Japanese authorities, presumably in an effort to prevent hysteria, have engaged in a cover-up of the true scale of the Fukushima crisis from start to finish, and they have been largely aided by a mass media that has slavishly repeated their lies without question, despite the fact that there is a long history of covering up nuclear catastrophes in Japan. This process has only put the Japanese people in more danger.

Amidst the disgusting spectacle of a castrated and inept corporate mass media failing to ask hard questions about the true scale of the Fukushima crisis, a handful of nuclear experts are attempting to blow the whistle.

As reported by the BBC:

Japanese engineer Masashi Goto, who helped design the containment vessel for Fukushima’s reactor core, says the design was not enough to withstand earthquakes or tsunamis and the plant’s builders, Toshiba, knew this.
Mr Goto says his greatest fear is that blasts at number 3 and number 1 reactors may have damaged the steel casing of the containment vessel designed to stop radioactive material escaping into the atmosphere.
He says that as the reactor uses mox (mixed oxide) fuel, the melting point is lower than that of conventional fuel. Should a meltdown and an explosion occur, he says, p lutonium could be spread over an area up to twice as far as estimated for a conventional nuclear fuel explosion. The next 24 hours are critical, he says.

Goto warns that Japanese authorities have suppressed the true severity of the crisis and that there is “a severe risk of an explosion, with radioactive material being strewn over a very wide area – beyond the 20km evacuation zone set up by the authorities,” adding that the worst case scenario would manifest itself as “many Chernobyls,” and that the effect would be, “Like a volcano spreading radioactive material.”

Nuclear expert Joe Cirincione warns that radiation from Japan’s multiple potential nuclear meltdowns could spread to the US west coast and that the threat represents an “unprecedented crisis.”

Yoichi Shimatsu, former editor of the Japan Times, states that after a high-level government meeting, “Japanese agencies are no longer releasing independent reports without prior approval from the top,” and that censorship of what is really occurring at the plant is being overseen under the Article 15 Emergency Law.

Professor Richard Wakeford, a nuclear expert at Manchester University, said yesterday: ‘If the fuel is not covered by cooling water it could become so hot it begins to melt – if all the fuel is uncovered you could get a large-scale meltdown.’

Today it looks as if that scenario is playing out.

The US has moved one of its aircraft carriers from the area after detecting low-level radiation 160km (100 miles) offshore.

The Japanese government is playing down the scale of the disaster, however, experts have pointed out that it has a long history of nuclear cover ups, and that this is merely the latest.

Documentary filmmaker Tony Barrell says in 2003 reactors across the country had to be shut down after it emerged the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) had hid accidents.

“They had to shut down 17 plants in 2003 because they’d been falsifying the records about what had been happening at them,” he said.

“Lives were threatened, systems broke down, there were failures to report and there were cover-ups. People pretended things hadn’t happened.”

Barrell says several other major incidents have occurred and gone relatively unreported:

“A place called Monju, which in 1995 sprang a leak in its liquid sodium cooling system which made the whole thing absolutely red hot and had to be shut down immediately and stayed shut down until the beginning of last year – 15 years,” he told ABC News in Australia.

Barrell also pointed out that the Fukushima Daiichi plant should have been shut down long ago because it is now 40 years old.

Should other plants in Japan experience complete meltdowns, the entire country could become a nuclear wasteground, and the radiation could engulf large areas of the planet, leading to huge numbers of cancers and future birth deformities.

A former nuclear power plant designer has said Japan is facing an extremely grave crisis and called on the government to release more information, which he said was being suppressed. Masashi Goto told a news conference in Tokyo that one of the reactors at the Fukushima-Daiichi plant was “highly unstable”, and that if there was a meltdown the “consequences would be tremendous”. He said such an event might be very likely indeed. So far, the government has said a meltdown would not lead to a sizeable leak of radioactive materials.

Insured losses from Japan quake could hit $35 billion

NEW YORK/LONDON (Reuters) – Last week’s earthquake in Japan could lead to insured losses of nearly $35 billion, risk modeling company AIR Worldwide said, making it one of the most expensive catastrophes in history.

That figure is nearly as much as the entire worldwide catastrophe loss for the global insurance industry in 2010, and could be the triggering event that forces higher prices in the insurance market after years of declines.

AIR said its loss estimate range was $14.5 billion to $34.6 billion. That was based on a range of 1.2 trillion yen to 2.8 trillion yen, converted at 81.85 yen to the dollar.

Cooling at Sixth Reactor Fails

Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Sunday another reactor of its quake-hit Fukushima nuclear power plants had lost its cooling functions, while at least 15 people at a nearby hospital were found to have been exposed to radioactivity.

The utility supplier notified the government early Sunday morning that the No. 3 reactor at the No. 1 Fukushima plant had lost the ability to cool the reactor core. The reactor is now in the process of releasing radioactive steam, according to top government spokesman Yukio Edano.

Monster aftershock could strike within days

NORTH-EASTERN Japan can expect another monster earthquake large enough to trigger a tsunami within days, the head of the Australian Seismological Centre says.

The director, Kevin McCue, said there had been more than 100 smaller quakes since Friday, but a larger aftershock was likely.

”Normally they happen within days,” he said. ”The rule of thumb is that you would expect the main aftershock to be one magnitude smaller than the main shock, so you would be expecting a 7.9.

The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis.
“At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass,” said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The Japan earthquake was the fourth most powerful ever recorded with a magnitude of 9.1, twice more powerful than the initial estimate of 8.9, Gerard Fryer, geophysicist of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, said this morning.
Three others that were more powerful since the late 1800s when seismometers started measuring ground motions were in 9.5 in Chile in 1960, 9.2 in Alaska in 1964 and 9.1 in Sumatra in 2004, according to Fryer.

Mr Goto calculated that because Reactor No 3 at Fukushima-Daiichi – where pressure is rising and there is a risk of an explosion – used a type of fuel known as Mox, a mixture of p lutonium oxide and uranium oxide, the radioactive fallout from any meltdown might be twice as bad.

He described the worst-case scenario: “It is difficult to say, but that would be a core meltdown. If the rods fall and mix with water, the result would be an explosion of solid material like a volcano spreading radioactive material. Steam or a hydrogen explosion caused by the mix would spread radioactive waste more than 50km. Also, this would be multiplied. There are many reactors in the area so there would be many Chernobyls.”

He accused the government of deliberately withholding vital information that would allow outside experts help solve the problems. “For example, there has not been enough information about the hydrogen being vented. We don’t know how much was vented and how radioactive it was.” He also described the use of sea water to cool the cores of the reactors at Fukushima-Daiichi as highly unusual and dangerous.

It was the sixth reactor overall at the Fukushima No. 1 and No. 2 plants to undergo cooling failure since the massive earthquake and ensuing tsunami struck Japan on Friday.

The disaster raised fears over radioactive leaks from the plants after cooling systems there were hampered, most seriously at the No. 1 reactor.

An explosion Saturday at the No. 1 plant blew away the roof and the walls of the building housing the No. 1 reactor’s container.

The government and nuclear authorities said there was no damage to the steel container housing the troubled No. 1 reactor, noting that the blast occurred as vapor from the container turned into hydrogen and mixed with outside oxygen.

Tokyo Electric Power has begun new cooling operations to fill the reactor with sea water and pour in boric acid to prevent an occurrence of criticality. Chief Cabinet Secretary Edano said in a press conference Sunday morning that there had been no major changes in the results of monitoring radioactivity near the No. 1 reactor.

Following the explosion, the authorities expanded from 10 kilometers to 20 km the radius of the evacuation area for residents living in the vicinity of the Fukushima plants.

The winds could shift at any time, blowing radiation into Tokyo or other parts of Japan.
However, even if the prevailing winds remain off-shore – towards California and Washington – those American states are still a long way away. As AFP notes:
While US nuclear experts acknowledged the seriousness of Japan’s reactor crisis, some stressed that taking steps in the United States such as distributing iodine tablets — which prevent iodine 131 from being absorbed into the body — would be “vastly premature.”
“It’s a big ocean. These (radiation) releases are essentially going to be at ground level,” said Ken Bergeron, a physicist who has worked on nuclear reactor accident simulation.
“We should not confuse it with health issues in the United States.”
Japan is roughly 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) from the US West Coast.
But while the great distances make the risk of radiation exposure to Californians and Washingtonians small, it is not zero.

For example, pollution from Chinese coal factories routinely hits California. For example, Mongabay noted in 2008:
Previous studies have documented that dust from Asia — especially from deserts and industrial regions of China — routinely crosses the Pacific Ocean on prevailing winds to sully the air over the western U.S.

The Shinmoedake volcano on Japan’s Kyushu island, after lying dormant for a couple of weeks, resumes activity in a blast heard miles away. It was unclear if the eruption was linked to Friday’s massive earthquake in the north.

The Japanese weather agency has reported that a volcano in southern Japan began spewing ash and rock even as the country struggled to recover Sunday from the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency issued a warning Sunday that the Shinmoedake volcano resumed activity after lying dormant for a couple of weeks.

The volcano is on Kyushu island, about 950 miles from the epicenter of Friday’s magnitude 9.0 earthquake, which devastated much of the country’s northeastern coast.

Prior to the explosion today, the media reported the radiation level was 1000 times higher than the permissible level.

Kyodo News agency said radioactive cesium had been detected near the 40 year old facility, citing the nuclear safety agency.

Government spokesman Yukio Edano said radiation levels around the Fukushima Daiichi plant in northeastern Japan had not risen after the explosion, despite earlier press reports it had.

It is obvious the Japanese are attempting to cover up the deadly seriousness of events unfolding in their country.

The white smoke emitted from the Fukushima plant resembles the smoke emitted at Chernobyl after the Ukrainian nuclear plant blew up and caught fire on April 26, 1986. Here is a documentary on the events at Chernobyl.

Chernobyl has been blamed for thousands of deaths due to radiation-linked illness.

“If the pressure vessel, which is the thing that actually holds all the nuclear fuel … if that was to explode — that’s basically what happened at Chernobyl — you get an enormous release of radioactive material,” said Prof. Paddy Regan, nuclear physicist from Britain’s Surrey University.

Reuters reports this morning that experts examining pictures of “mist above the plant suggested only small amounts of radiation had been expelled as part of measures to ensure its stability, far from the radioactive clouds that Chernobyl spewed out when it exploded in 1986.”

This characterization is at odds with video of the explosion showing large plumes rising high above the crippled plant.

Even though 210,000 people were evacuated from the region, Japanese authorities and the corporate media insist the situation is not serious. Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has said that only a small amount of radiation has been released from one of the reactors.

Wind charts reveal that radiation released from the plant will adversely impact nations surrounding Japan.

As we accurately reported earlier today, the explosion at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan was the result of a nuclear meltdown of the reactor core at the facility.

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) confirmed the meltdown Saturday afternoon. Fukushima is one of the 25 largest nuclear power stations in the world. The NISA is affiliated with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

High levels of cesium and iodine, by-products of nuclear fission, are being reported and providing more evidence that a nuclear meltdown is currently underway.

It is now certain Japan is experiencing a Chernobyl event. “At this point, events in Japan bear many similarities to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Reports indicate that up to 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) of the reactor fuel was exposed. The reactor fuel appears to have at least partially melted, and the subsequent explosion has shattered the walls and roof of the containment vessel – and likely the remaining useful parts of the control and coolant systems,” Stratfor explains.

“Given the large quantity of irradiated nuclear fuel in the pool, the radioactivity release could be worse than the Chernobyl nuclear reactor catastrophe of 25 years ago,” said Kevin Camps, a nuclear waste specialist.

Prior to the explosion of the containment structure, exposure rates outside the plant were at about 620 millirems per hour. Radiation exposure for the average individual is 620 millirems per year. Virtually any increase in ambient radiation can raise long-term cancer rates, and authorities distributed iodine, which helps protect against thyroid cancer, The Oregonian reports.

As the image above illustrates, the prevailing jet stream moves from Japan to the United States across the Pacific Ocean. Airborne radiation would work its way into the jet stream and reach the United States in less than 36 hours. Jet streams flow from west to east in the upper portion of the troposphere.

Bt downplaying this serious disaster, the Japanese government is not only endangering its own people, but also millions of people in the United States and Canada.

The cover-up by the Japanese government provides more evidence that government cannot be trusted to safeguard the lives of its citizens.

In an interview with Mark Hibbs, a Berlin-based senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a nonprofit think tank, Newsmax magazine asks – what happens next at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. The answer according to the nuclear expert, is that as Fukushima is now well on its way to a full core-melt nuclear accident, a worst case scenario could possibly lead to the same results last seen in 1986 Chernobyl.

So what happens next? First, Hibbs explains precisely what already has taken place:

“What happened in Japan is very alarming because it would appear . . . that about 2:30 this afternoon Japan time, when the earthquake struck . . . three of the reactors that were operating were disenabled because of a loss of offsite power that was caused by the earthquake.”

The Japanese situation appears to be roughly analogous to the Three Mile Island incident in the United States, where authorities struggled for days to contain an improperly cooled reactor core but were able to avert a widespread release of nuclear material.
“We were in a situation as I recall then very similar to where we are now, where we were told by news media in 1979 that there was a core melt accident unfolding, we didn’t know how serious it would become, and what would happen,” Hibbs tells Newsmax.
At least one of the reactors in Japan, and perhaps more, “ are on the path of a core-melt accident. It’s called a loss of coolant accident. . . . And it’s up to the Japanese authorities, together with the industries in that country, to find a way to stem this problem,” he said.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton confirmed that the United States is trying to help alleviate the situation. “We just had our Air Force assets in Japan transport some really important coolant to one of the nuclear plants,” Clinton said, according to the Associated Press.
The Japanese reactors are designed to drop neutron-blocking control rods into the core as soon as the plants detect a seismic disturbance. These controls apparently functioned normally. But even after the procedure, scientists say a base level of heat continues to flow, and coolant is needed to constrain those temperatures.

Unfotunately, Japan does not have much time:

Asked how long Japanese scientists have to correct the problem to avoid a core meltdown, Hibbs tells Newsmax that it depends on system design, adding, “it could be a day, plus or minus 10 hours.”

“After a while, with the heat building up in there, and lack of coolant, you’re going to see damage in your fuel, the cladding, the metal container around the nuclear material, begins to buckle or balloon or break, and after a little while you’ll get a situation where the fuel falls apart, melts, and falls into the core, and then you’ve got a classical core melt accident like you had in Three Mile Island that you had in the United States in ’79.”
Hibbs spoke with Japanese government officials who told him the force of the tsunami was so severe that the water may have flooded the reactors, power generators, and cooling mechanisms, disabling the equipment. “Which means they have to resort to basically a military-type exercise, to rush in to the devastated site equipment that they can quickly hook up to the reactor to get power in there and start this emergency equipment, to get cooling water into that core and prevent that fuel from overheating.
“And if they can’t do that,” he told Newsmax, “then you’re going to have this meltdown.”
They have 24 hours or so to avoid a core meltdown, he says. But if one occurs, two scenarios could follow: The good outcome would mirror what happened at Three Mile Island, while the bad one could involve what he called a “Chernobyl scenario, where the damage to the reactor was such that the integrity of the structures were damaged.
“There was an explosion and other things happened in there, that opened up the reactor so the inventory of radioactive material . . . went into the atmosphere and generated this deadly plume that we know happened in Chernobyl.
“So that is the ultimate worst-case scenario. Nobody is saying that’s going to happen. Nobody is even saying we’re going to have a core meltdown. But we have a window of time now. We don’t know how much is left — but the Japanese authorities and the government and all the agencies that they can muster are working overtime to get cooling systems on that site powered and working.”
The April 1986 Chernobyl disaster cost an estimated 4,000 lives. More than 330,000 Russians had to be relocated because of contamination.
But Hibbs says, “A lot of worst-case things would have to happen for us to get that far.”
Hibbs said the Japanese right now are fighting the clock to contain the heating.

Reports are emerging from Japan of a second nuclear reactor experiencing problems after a 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck the country, the largest in its history. Few details about the second plant are available at this time.

Meanwhile, at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, Japanese nuclear officials report radiation levels inside the plant have surged to 1,000 times their normal levels after the cooling system failed.

The earthquake was 1,000 times more powerful than the one that struck Christchurch in New Zealand recently. It was also a thousand times more powerful than the quake that hit Haiti last year.

The elevated reading was taken in the control room of the No. 1 reactor of the power plant, Agence France-Presse reported.

Pressure inside one of six boiling water reactors at the plant had risen to 1.5 times the level considered normal and authorities ordered an evacuation of a two-mile radius area adjacent to the plant. Around 3,000 people have evacuated their homes as the government declared a first of its kind nuclear emergency. People within a six-mile radius were warned to stay in their homes.

The 480-megawatt Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is a hundred times more powerful than the ill-fated reactor at the Chernobyl plant in Ukraine. On April 26, 1986, the Soviet reactor exploded after a power surge. Four hundred times more radioactive material was released from the crippled nuclear power plant than had been by the atomic bomb at Hiroshima. The fallout was detected across Europe.

The loss of coolant at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station in Pennsylvania in 1979 for only 30 minutes led to a 50% meltdown of the core.

At least 11 of Japan’s 52 nuclear power reactors are shut down and three of those may pose a danger to the public, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

“If they can’t get adequate cooling to the core, it could be a Three Mile Island or worse,” nuclear physicist Edwin Lyman of the Union of Concerned Scientists told the Los Angeles Times.

The horrifying consequences of the biggest earthquake to hit Japan since records began are only just beginning to be discovered, with the tsunami that followed causing massive devastation and engulfing cities and airports, leading to the declaration of a nuclear emergency at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant after efforts to cool malfunctioning reactor cores failed

The 8.9 magnitude quake that struck Japan’s north eastern coast this morning sent 30 foot high waves sweeping through impacted areas and the death toll is climbing by the hour.

But an even greater tragedy could be imminent after Japanese authorities declared a nuclear emergency following technicians’ failure to pump water to cool a nuclear reactor plant located in the town of Okuma.

“The operator of the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant reported an abnormality Friday following a powerful earthquake which hit a wide area in northeastern Japan including Fukushima Prefecture, the industry ministry said,” reports Kyodo Wire.

“The system to cool reactor cores in case of emergency stopped at the No. 1 and No. 2 reactors of the plant operated by Tokyo Electric Power Co., it said.”

NHK Broadcasting reports that all six reactors shut down immediately following the earthquake, but that electrical problems prevented cooler pumps in reactor #1 from functioning. Emergency cooling systems were successfully activated for reactor #2, but presumably failed for reactor #1.

Under Japanese law, authorities are mandated to issue a nuclear emergency if the cooling mechanisms fail, and they did exactly that for the first time in Japan’s history after it became clear that attempts to cool the reactor were “not going as planned”.

Fukushima No. 1 is one of the largest nuclear plants in the world and has eight separate units located on the site. Thankfully, so far there’s no evidence of any radioactive leakage.

The Tokyo Electric Power Co says it faces a shortage of electrical capacity to cool its reactors, but as Time Magazine points out, “The reactors at Fukushima should will have multiple, redundant safety features installed to help cool reactor cores and prevent meltdown so its unclear what the company means by a “shortage of capacity.”

In a related story, “A fire broke out in the turbine building of Onagawa nuclear plant in Miyagi Prefecture on Friday,” reports AFP.

The effects of the tsunami are now expected to impact American shores, with many areas of Hawaii being evacuated as people panic buy food in preparation for the impact of tidal waves expected to hit early this morning. The aftermath of the tsunami could completely submerge low lying islands including Guam, experts fear.

Meanwhile, a ship carrying 100 people was swept away by the tsunami and bullet train carrying hundreds of passengers in the Miyagi region was missing. Their fate is unknown.

If you thought that climate change alarmists wouldn’t be so insensitive as to build their warped argument on the bodies of freshly dead corpses, then think again. Within 24 hours there’ll be a whole slew of neo-libs pointing to the suffering in Japan as a reason why we should hand over more untold trillions to globalists in the form of a carbon tax.

The BBC is already at it – in a discussion about a whirlpool caused by the tsunami, BBC reporter Humphrey Hawksley hastily piggy backs a dubious argument about the tiny South Pacific nation of Tuvalu disappearing under the threat of global warming on the back of dramatic pictures out of Japan. By making this completely disjointed connection, Hawksley implicitly suggests that man-made climate change also contributed to the Japanese earthquake.

In reality, alarmists’ lies surrounding Tuvalu are well documented. Al Gore’s claim in his Inconvenient Truth film that the residents of Tuvalu all had to evacuate to New Zealand as climate refugees because rising sea levels were swallowing up their homes was ruled incorrect by a British judge.

“There was no evidence of climate refugees from the Pacific having to be evacuated to New Zealand or anywhere else to escape rising seas,” explains Andrew Bolt.

While environmentalists like Professor Mohammed Dore ignorantly claim that Tuvalu is already completely uninhabited due to climate change, the 12,000 residents of the island must not have been paying much attention as their number has doubled in the past three decades.

As Bolt explains, the government of Tuvalu has cleverly exploited the doomsday proclamations of alarmists to milk grants and aid money paid for by western taxpayers, laughing all the way to the bank as the land mass of the island actually expands.

It was already clear from the Australian-funded South Pacific Sea Level and Climate Monitoring Project that sea levels in the region were rising only microscopically, much as they’d done for centuries before the invention of the motor car or the light bulb.
But now New Scientist reports that however fast the seas are rising, Tuvalu and many other low-lying Pacific islands are so far rising even faster, thanks to coral debris, coral growth, land reclamation and deposits of sediment. Some have grown by as much as a third.
Auckland University’s Associate Prof Paul Kench, one of the two authors of the study, said he compared historical pictures from the past 60 years to satellite images of 27 Pacific islands.
“Eighty per cent of the islands we’ve looked at have either remained about the same or, in fact, (grown) larger,” he said.

But the facts don’t come into the equation when you’re trying to enforce the doctrine of what amounts to a religious dogma.

So before the likes of Al Gore, Danny Glover, and the San Francisco Chronicle, who all blamed last year’s Haiti earthquake on global warming, along with the rest of the climate change cultists attempt to exploit the latest natural disaster for political grist, it is important to stress that earthquakes are caused by tectonic plate movements and have been for thousands of years – they are not caused by Bubba driving his SUV down the highway.

An earthquake occurs in Japan every 5 minutes because, as the Telegraph’s Aislinn Laing explains, “Tokyo is situated on Japan’s main Honshu island which is turn sits at the intersection of three continental plates, the Eurasian, Pacific and Philippine Sea plates, which are slowly grinding against each other, building up enormous seismic pressure that every so often is realised with ferocious force.”

Massive earthquakes were killing humans in staggering numbers before the onset of heavy industry, ubiquitous car ownership and increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, and they will continue to kill humans as long as we are on the planet. The 1906 San Francisco earthquake was similar in strength to today’s Japanese quake and it killed over 3,000 people, the greatest loss of life from a natural disaster in California’s history.

Attempts to claim that melting glaciers contributed to earthquakes in 2008 were initially swallowed whole by the mainstream media but subsequently discredited. Indeed, global warming alarmists themselves have been responsible for causing earthquakes. A geologist in Switzerland went on trial for causing mini-earthquakes by using deep drilling equipment to search for renewable energy. One such attempt caused a 3.4 magnitude quake to rock the city of Basel.

The horrifying consequences of the biggest earthquake to hit Japan since records began are only just beginning to be discovered, with the tsunami that followed causing massive devastation and engulfing cities and airports, and leading to the declaration of a nuclear emergency.

But that won’t stop climate change alarmists from offensively hijacking the opportunity to lecture the rest of us about how we caused the carnage by daring to maintain a decent standard of living, and how we must pay an indulgence tax to the likes of Al Gore, Maurice Strong, the Rothschilds and a gaggle of other globalists who own the carbon trading schemes.

Earthquakes are called natural disasters for a reason – they are not caused by emissions of that deadly, poisonous, toxic, hateful gas known as carbon dioxide, the life-giving substance that humans exhale and plants breathe.

However, this fact won’t give pause to alarmists desperate to sink their teeth into a new tragedy to reinvigorate momentum behind their failing effort to completely eviscerate the western middle class and concurrently destroy the third world’s hopes of ever lifting themselves out of poverty.

Japanese authorities ordered the evacuation of about 3,000 residents within a 1.9-mile radius of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant and told people within a 16.2-mile radius to remain indoors, according to the Web site of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Incident and Emergency Centre.

The cooling problem affects the second of six reactors at the plant, on the east coast of Japan about 200 miles north of Tokyo and south of the heavily damaged town of Sendai.

Japan’s nuclear safety agency said pressure inside one of six boiling water reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi plant had risen to 1.5 times the level considered normal, the Associated Press reports.

The agency says the radioactive element in the vapor would not affect the environment or human health.

Officials have declared Japan’s first ever nuclear emergency and ordered the evacuation of 3,000 nearby residents as a precaution.

MYFOXNY.COM – A radiation leak could occur at the Fukushima nuclear plant north of Tokyo in the aftermath of an 8.9-magnitude earthquake, Japanese Trade Minister Banri Kaieda told Kyodo News Friday.

Any amount of radiation leakage “would be small,” Kaieda said.

Some 2,800 residents living near the Fukushima nuclear plant were urged to evacuate Friday. Engineers had been unable to pump water to cool the nuclear reactor at a northeastern power plant crippled by the 8.9-magnitude earthquake for several hours.

Officials in Fukushima issued the advice for residents living within a two-kilometer (1.2-mile) radius of the No. 2 reactor of the Fukushima No. 1 plant, operated by Tokyo Electric Power Co.

Japan declared a nuclear emergency Friday after engineers said they were unable to pump water to cool the nuclear reactor at a northeast power plant crippled by fire caused by the 8.9-magnitude earthquake.

Reports are emerging from Japan of a second nuclear reactor experiencing problems after a 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck the country, the largest in its history. Few details about the second plant are available at this time.

Meanwhile, at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, Japanese nuclear officials report radiation levels inside the plant have surged to 1,000 times their normal levels after the cooling system failed.

The earthquake was 1,000 times more powerful than the one that struck Christchurch in New Zealand recently. It was also a thousand times more powerful than the quake that hit Haiti last year.

The elevated reading was taken in the control room of the No. 1 reactor of the power plant, Agence France-Presse reported.

The 480-megawatt Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is a hundred times more powerful than the ill-fated reactor at the Chernobyl plant in Ukraine. On April 26, 1986, the Soviet reactor exploded after a power surge. Four hundred times more radioactive material was released from the crippled nuclear power plant than had been by the atomic bomb at Hiroshima. The fallout was detected across Europe.

The loss of coolant at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station in Pennsylvania in 1979 for only 30 minutes led to a 50% meltdown of the core.

At least 11 of Japan’s 52 nuclear power reactors are shut down and three of those may pose a danger to the public, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

“If they can’t get adequate cooling to the core, it could be a Three Mile Island or worse,” nuclear physicist Edwin Lyman of the Union of Concerned Scientists told the Los Angeles Times.

“The world does need order, and that order needs maintenance.” Soros further told the Traveller’s Club. “The idea that markets can correct their excesses turned out to be false.” he said in an open attack on the free market.

In this 1:36:41 documentary, Pilger peers behind the curtain of the modern media machine in a series of remarkable interviews with journalists, their bosses, their critics, and those who labor mightily to ensure their stories carry the “proper spin.”

Former CIA intelligence officer Melvin Goodman offers insight on the hidden collaboration between Pentagon and press and Dan Rather describes his colleagues as “stenographers” — himself included —parroting the military’s media line in the runup to the invasion of Iraq.

Pilger lays into media “embedding,” that most pernicious of policies, one designed to create a deep sense of identity between the press and the military. One Fox report actually uses the phrase “in bed” to describe the relationship of their reporters with the Pentagon’s troops. Rageh Omar of the BBC notes that the “24-hour news” format is the most susceptible to manipulation, and acknowledges that “I don’t do my job properly.”

Watching the flagrantly biased coverage by Western reporters at the time of the invasion is certain to generate grimaces, given the way events unfolded subsequently.

The documentary also features previously unaired footage of the battle for Fallujah, where it took non-embedded reporter Dahr Jamail to reveal that U.S. aircraft had used flesh-searing white phosphorous in the attack — though the story gained little traction in this country despite the weapon’s ban internationally.

One illuminating vignette focuses on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima: While a New York Times reporter later revealed as on the Pentagon payroll wrote a widely circulated story claiming no radiation sickness had followed the blast, Australian reporter Wilfred Burchett revealed the truth, and promptly became the target of press conference denunciations.

Former Observer reporter David Rose, who wrote pre-war stories cheerleading the Iraq invasion, now acknowledges his grievous errors: “I can make no excuses,” he tells Pilger. Today he acknowledges that journalists were accomplishes in what is nothing less than a crime. Dan Rather, who famously appeared on Letterman before the war promising to “line up” with President Geroge W. Bush, acknowledges that he and fellow reporters signed on to the White House agenda, in part because fear of losing their jobs or being labeled unpatriotic.

The most unapologetic figures Pilger interviews are the BBC’s Francesca Unsworth, whose title is “Head of Newsgathering,” and a predictably unctuous Pentagon mouthpiece.

Pilger recalls his early days covering the Vietnam War, which he describes as a blueprint for the campaigns of today. One of the most sobering revelations he offers is of the shocking increase in civilian casualties during the wars of the last 100 years.

During World War I, civilians accounted for only 10 percent of wartime casualties, a number that soared to 50 percent during WWII, 70 percent during the Vietnam War, and 90 percent in the ongoing war in Iraq. Pilger does more than cite numbers: He forces viewers to confront the innocent victims.

One notable interview is with former United Nations Assistant Secretary General Denis Haliday, who resigned his post because he refused to administrer Clinton era sanctions against Iraq which had cost the lives of at least 500,000 children. Another former British diplomat, Carne Ross, describes how his government knowingly fed false stories to the media and held out access to the Foreign Secretary as a bribe to induce reporters to toe the line.

Pilger also casts a very discerning eye at Western media coverage of Israel and Palestine, and the intimidation of reporters who dare to cast a critical eye at the actions of the Israel government, and singles out Barack Obama’s hypocritical campaigning as an antiwar caniate, then signing the largest Pentagon budget in the nation’s history.

The final segment focuses on Wikileaks and includes a pre-arrest interview with Julian Assange.

In summation, Pilger reminds the journalists among us that it is on them [us] that government propagandists depend for disseminating their justifications for slaughter

One especially sad tale concerns the Associated Press reporter who, after the Iraq War ended, visited every site declared by Bush administration to house chemical weapons facilities still retained the unbroken seals installed by U.N. a decade before. The story received virtually no play in the American media, despite its conclusive proof that a central claim used in selling the war had been revealed as a lie.

We’ll, I guess he should know. He and his wife, MP Olivia Chow, are among the ultimate Ottawa establishment couples.

I’m not making this up. The New Democrats have a new smear ad out claiming that Ottawa no longer works for the little guy. (Yeah, the little guy making $140,000 a year as a full, tenured sociology professor or $90,000 a year as a mid-level provincial health care bureaucrat — the kind of “little guys” who now make up most of the NDP’s supporters.)

Watch the Video that expalins what it is the political potato heads in office don't, don't tell you the people who claim they repesent you as their government reps.

Here’s the salient dialogue:

“Is it just me, or has Ottawa stopped working?’’ says a woman in the ad.
“It sure looks that way,” says Mr. Layton. “These days, lobbyists, senators, insiders are getting all the breaks. While more and more seniors are struggling just to pay their bills, we have to do better. It’s time to roll up our sleeves, put the partisan games aside, and start getting results.”

Sure, Jack. I’m touched by your concern for poor seniors, especially given that between the two of you, you and Ms. Chow racked up nearly $1.2 million in taxpayer-covered expenses in 2009, the last year for which reliable figures are available. That was $530,000 for her, $629,000 for you. The average MP consumed $469,000.

Admittedly, that’s not pocketed expense money. But neither does it include the couple’s salaries and honoraria as MPs. Nor Jack’s stipend as a party leader. It’s above and beyond their pay and benefits.

Much of it goes to staff salaries back home in the constituency, constituency office rent, flyers, hospitality and advertising, leasing computers and copiers, flying to and from the home riding to Ottawa several times a year and renting a place to live while in the nation’s capital.

Oh, and dining out — a lot.

Trouble is, we’re not allowed to know how our MPs are spending these hundreds of thousands of dollars. We just get broad brushstrokes, no line-by-line accounting that would enable us to see whether they fly business class or coach when they are travelling on our tab and how much they are charging back to us for fancy restaurant meals.

Sure, Jack, you keep professing your concern for struggling seniors. But, please, stop trying to convince me you’re just Joe Lunchbucket or that your concern is anything more than hypothetical.

Jeremy Rothe-Kushel of WeAreChangeLA was just beaten and arrested for interrupting a live broadcast of the Real Time with Bill Maher television show. Video from the live broadcast clearly shows Jeremy screaming “That’s Battery! If you ask me to leave, I will leave on my own accord” There is no reason for his assault and illegal arrest.

WeAreChange LA have done this in response to last weeks Bill Maher’s attack on the 911 truth movement.

UPDATE (Please read below): UPDATED DEC. 1, 2010 2:20 PM CST — You Tube issued TheAlexJonesChannel a notice reversing its PREVIOUS DECISION to freeze the account. In the newest contact, You Tube writes that "Upon additional review we have reinstated the material and removed any penalties that had been applied to your account."

Only two days ago, YouTube responded to our counter-notification challenging the removal of a Wikileaks massacre video posted by literally hundreds of other media outlets by ruling to freeze our account. Now, thanks to outrage from our listeners and articles slamming the unfair ruling, You Tube has taken the rare and nearly unprecedented step of taking a second look, restoring the video and removing all penalties. Credit goes to You Tube for listening to our criticism.

Ironically, though, even this reversal contains its own spin. Below the decision [see full letter below] is a message recommending that we "appeal the strike" in any future incidents we feel are unjust. However, this appeal process, known as a "DMCA counter-notification" is the exact venue we used to challenge the video's original removal. It was when we DID appeal that You Tube ruled to freeze our account; the removal of the video itself was only a strike that would not have closed or frozen our account.

Both Google and its subsidiary company You Tube have banned Alex Jones and his websites, as attempts to curtail free speech widen.

Within the past 2-3 weeks, Jones and his team have confirmed that after years of being listed under Google News, one of the largest platforms for news dissemination, that PrisonPlanet.com and Infowars.com have been blocked from its search results, effectively censoring their content from wide web coverage. Only smaller sites that re-post the content have appeared in Google searches since early November.

In a separate matter, TheAlexJonesChannel on YouTube has learned that it will be either frozen or blocked from uploading new content for several weeks following a "Community Guidelines" violation decision. According to YouTube's support team, users from its site flagged a video on the channel that contained controversial video of the Apache helicopter "collateral murder" that occurred in Iraq in 2007 and was released by Wikileaks. When TheAlexJonesChannel attempted to challenge the removal of this video via YouTube's counter-notification form, it was subsequently told that the account would be disabled and new content blocked (apparently due to the challenge, as no other strikes exist on the account).

The graphic content in the video-- which documents real events the Pentagon never wanted released-- has been posted by hundreds of other channels on YouTube, including major media outlets like CBS News and Russia Today without being flagged or removed, yet TheAlexJonesChannel has been told that its posting of a smaller portion of this incident is offensive or otherwise against its community guidelines. This appears to be double standard as even the age-verification barrier set-up for some of the postings was not offered for TheAlexJonesChannel version; it was simple deleted by user demand and YouTube mandate.

It is evident that the system revels in any chance to dampen the loud voice that Alex Jones, Infowars.com/PrisonPlanet.com and its supporters have raised on the Internet, effectively challenging the status quo and mainstream media spin on major news and events. With the easy passage of the web censorship bill, it is further clear that what is happening now to Infowars.com and Alex Jones will soon happen to anyone without a politically-correct message, particularly when that message is capable of resonating throughout large parts of the globe.

It is up to supporters and lovers of freedom to challenge censorship and oppression on the web, because only resistance can slow the attempts to curtail free speech and expression online. 5th April 2010 10:44 EST WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.

Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-sight, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.

The military did not reveal how the Reuters staff were killed, and stated that they did not know how the children were injured.

After demands by Reuters, the incident was investigated and the U.S. military concluded that the actions of the soldiers were in accordance with the law of armed conflict and its own "Rules of Engagement".

Consequently, WikiLeaks has released the classified Rules of Engagement for 2006, 2007 and 2008, revealing these rules before, during, and after the killings.

WikiLeaks has released both the original 38 minutes video and a shorter version with an initial analysis. Subtitles have been added to both versions from the radio transmissions.

WikiLeaks obtained this video as well as supporting documents from a number of military whistleblowers. WikiLeaks goes to great lengths to verify the authenticity of the information it receives. We have analyzed the information about this incident from a variety of source material. We have spoken to witnesses and journalists directly involved in the incident.

WikiLeaks wants to ensure that all the leaked information it receives gets the attention it deserves. In this particular case, some of the people killed were journalists that were simply doing their jobs: putting their lives at risk in order to report on war. Iraq is a very dangerous place for journalists: from 2003- 2009, 139 journalists were killed while doing their work.
